Position Summary

The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), The CCO will be responsible for overseeing and managing all commercial activities including developing strategic plans to generate and maximize revenue and market expansion, commercial revenue planning, business growth and profitability. The CCO will develop and implement the commercial and brand strategy across Annexon's product portfolio and will collaborate across departments to identify new opportunities. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries with prior experience in product launch or launches, particularly in rare disease, neurology, and/or ophthalmology.

The successful CCO will possess strong leadership skills to effectively drive the commercial function towards achieving business objectives. Like all Annexon leaders, the CCO incumbent will have a deep-rooted commitment to serving patients and a passion for transforming the lives of people with serious diseases and their families.

Responsibilities

  • A key member of Annexon's Executive Leadership team. The CCO will partner with the C-Level Executives, lead Annexon's commercial function and provide guidance and direction to achieve revenue targets and market expansion

  • Provide overall management of the sales and portfolio management functions

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy that aligns with Annexon's company goals and objectives

  • Evaluate and oversee pricing strategy, assess market trends and monitor pricing effectiveness, conduct pricing research ensure optimal pricing for products or services to maximize revenue and maintain competitiveness in the market

  • Conduct market research, analyze market trends, and perform analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive threats, and target markets

  • Oversee the development and execution of marketing and sales strategies to drive product/service awareness

  • Establish and drive sales plans and initiatives, including setting targets and objectives, monitoring performance, and implementing effective sales strategies

  • Identify market opportunities, define target markets, and create plans to maximize revenue and market share

  • Assess and manage commercial risks, ensuring compliance with international and domestic regulations and industry standards. Develop risk mitigation strategies to protect Annexon's brand and commercial interests

  • Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and market dynamics to identify emerging opportunities, market trends, and potential threats. Gather market intelligence and use data-driven insights to make informed decisions

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

  • Monitor sales performance and provide insights and recommendations to enhance revenue growth

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 - 20 years of relevant commercial experience with a preference for both pharmaceutical and biotech experience

  • Demonstrated success in building commercial organizations with proven experience in an Executive C-level commercial leadership role within the biotechnology industry

  • Track record of success with establishing commercial capabilities and effectively launching drugs

  • Expertise/Advanced knowledge of biotechnology products, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements with strong disease knowledge in rare diseases, neurology, ophthalmology, and/or immunology drug development

  • A strategic/analytical and results-driven thinker with the ability to plan, direct, and lead a commercial organization. Demonstrated success in driving commercial strategies and achieving revenue targets.

  • Extensive experience with developing and executing sales strategies, field leadership, market research and analysis, and business forecasting

  • A strategic innovator with a successful track record of leading a company through multiple therapeutic areas including rare diseases, neurology, ophthalmology and/or immunology

  • Expertise in pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle, and commercialization process

  • Strong executive presence, focus and drive to succeed - confidence, passion, and high energy. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire, lead, manage, collaborate and motivate others in a multi-functional matrix environment

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to present technical information clearly and simply, and able to successfully build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to changing market trends and business needs

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving dynamic small to mid-sized company environment. A resourceful and creative problem solver who will 'roll up their sleeves'.

  • Knowledge of commercial compliance and all laws and regulations that govern promotional and non-promotional activities.

  • Ability to travel
