Position Summary:

St. Petersburg College (SPC) is a multi-campus institution that is committed to promoting student success and economic mobility through education, career development, and self-discovery. The Provost/Chief Campus Officer is accountable for essential aspects of Campus operations and student success. The Provost/Chief Campus Officer provides leadership to assure that our students experience a positive learning environment with timely staff engagement and quality support services. As a member of the college-wide Council of Campus Provosts, the Provost/Chief Campus Officer fosters collaboration and cooperation among staff to ensure a one-college approach to delivering quality student services. Further, to promote academic excellence, the Provost/Chief Campus Officer works closely with the Academic Deans to whom the faculty report. This role is also responsible for community engagement, and developing partnerships with schools and workforce.

Effective June 2024, St. Petersburg College is seeking to fill a vacancy for Provost/Chief Campus Officer at the Downtown and Midtown Centers.

Demonstrative evidence for developing and executing change, establishing and developing community and business partnerships, and applying high impact practices to produce quality staff, programs and student success is required. We are seeking individuals who possess organizational strategy and promote staff development and progression. The ability to work as a team to carry out the college-wide effectiveness as identified in SPC's mission, vision and values is essential.

St. Petersburg College's Downtown Center was established in 1998 and serves approximately 3,000 students per semester. The Downtown Center offers a wide range of academic disciplines and serves AA, AS, and Certificate seeking students, as well as home to the STEM Collegiate High School. The Center is a hub for community partners such as the American Stage Theater Company and the Florida Orchestra. Additionally, the College owns the Palladium Theater and the operation of the Palladium is the responsibility of the Downtown Center Provost. The Palladium is a performing arts center and is a vital part of the cultural life in Tampa Bay.

The Midtown Center is comprised of two facilities: the Douglas L. Jamerson, Jr. Midtown Center and the Cecil B. Keene, Sr. Student Achievement Center. At SPC Midtown, we have a variety of services and resources to help students on the path toward a college degree. The Jamerson Midtown Center opened in 2016 and is a 49,000-square-foot, state-of-the art building. The Midtown Center serves students seeking the AA degree as well as a number of workforce related certificate programs. The Center is also engaged in a number of local business and community partnerships.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Leadership of Campus efforts to assure that the "College Experience" is optimal by: implementing educational and academic support programs; working with Deans, Program Directors and Academic Chairs to define, schedule, and support appropriate academic courses and programs on the Campus to meet student needs; working with Campus and District personnel for continual improvements to the Library, Learning Support Commons, and other academic support programs;

  • Works with Campus and District personnel for continual improvements to processes in Admissions, Registration, Financial Assistance and all other campus-based student services areas;

  • Works with Campus and District personnel to effectively address Facilities and Security-related campus concerns, and all other support services;

  • Serves as chief Campus operating officer, responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, and all other aspects of Campus administration;

  • Commitment to creating Campus environment that fosters student engagement and leadership development;

  • Commitment to Campus environment that encourages and enables faculty and staff to create positive and innovative learning experiences;

  • Builds and supports an effective leadership team;

  • Creates a climate of open and effective communication;

  • Works collaboratively with faculty, staff and students on mutually created goals and initiatives in

support of student learning;

  • Organizes staff and resources for success in goal accomplishment;

  • Provides leadership in ensuring that academic and business processes focus on enhancement of the

learning environment;

  • Serves as Campus representative for collegewide concerns;

  • Works collaboratively with other campus s, the Chair of the Campus Faculty Governance Organization, and Senior Vice Presidents and Vice Presidents to ensure a collegewide perspective while considering and advocating for the individual needs of the Campus;

  • Assists with the development of external funds to support campus as well as collegewide programs and projects, in cooperation with the College's Foundation;

  • Serves as Campus representative to the local community, including civic, governmental and business organizations;

  • Advances the aims and objectives of state college education as well as those of St. Petersburg College and the Campus by community contacts and participation in community affairs.

This is the third of four levels in the Student Services Management series. The classification is responsible for directing the activities, programs, and projects of College-wide or campus-wide student services related departments, functions, or programs. Incumbents work in an administrative related department or function which enables the College to provide assistance and support to all students related to the enrollment, registration, and advising services. Incumbents will be responsible for managing professional work, recommending, developing, and managing multiple budgets, and working with multiple departments to achieve strategic objectives. Incumbents will have supervisory responsibilities, and be predominantly involved in the strategy formation and external relations.

Requirements:

Education:

Master's degree in a related field to assigned area. Doctorate degree preferred. At unique service Campuses, a combination of professional and educational experience may be considered.

Experience:

Seven (7) years professional administrative experience, at least 3 of which are in higher education or other senior administrative educational experience.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Knowledge:
