Join the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Aviation Program as a Chief Aircraft Mechanic, leading the inspection and maintenance of the SDSU training aircraft fleet. In this role, you'll oversee preventative maintenance, conduct detailed inspections, and ensure compliance with safety standards. You'll also mentor students on safety procedures, fostering a culture of excellence in aviation maintenance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Chief Aircraft Mechanic is responsible for supervising the inspection, repair, and maintenance of all SDSU Flight Training School aircraft under strict rules and regulations in place by the Federal Aviation Administration and manufacturers directives to ensure that students have safe and reliable aircraft to complete required flight training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Technical degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology or related field completed by start date;
• At least three years of experience with general aviation maintenance including inspection and supervision of maintenance and maintenance of aircraft parts inventory;
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification and Inspection Authorization completed by or start date; and
• Valid driver's license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience maintaining and inspecting technologically advanced aircraft;
• Experience managing, tracking and acquiring aircraft parts inventory;
• Two years supervisory experience; and
• Eight years recent aviation maintenance and inspection experience.
