Position Summary

The Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences is an academic unit within the College of Letters and Science with an active research program and a growing student body. The department seeks a dynamic, capable, and enthusiastic staff leader.

Salary & Compensation

  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

Qualifications

Familiarity with UCLA organizational structures. (Preferred) Ability to lead through organizational change. (Required) Demonstrated ability to plan, prepare and manage complex budgets with funding from multiple sources. (Required) Demonstrated ability to administer contract and grant program, including adherence to Federal, State and University policies. (Required) Demonstrated skill and experience in staff supervision including organizing workflow, delegating responsibility, training, and evaluating effectiveness. (Required) Ability to generate innovative alternative solutions to complex problems, determine short- and long-range implications of each, evaluate relative merits, determine optimum solution, and implement it effectively. (Required) Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated writing skills for composing, editing, and finalizing correspondence and reports in a concise, logical and grammatically correct manner. (Required) Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments and follow through with minimal direction. (Required) Ability to perform effectively under conditions of frequent interruptions, fluctuating workloads and conflicting time demands. (Required) Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information. (Required) Demonstrated knowledge of policies, procedures and methods associated with the functional responsibilities of the position (academic and staff personnel and payroll, budget and financial management, instructional support, student services, computing and network support) (Preferred)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

Bachelor's Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience/training (Required)
