Apogee Engineering is actively seeking a Chemistry Lab Technician supporting the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point, NY. This is an Entry Level position that is perfect for someone who is young in their career or recently seperated from the military. The ideal candidate will be familiar with a chemistry lab procedures, equipment, and basic safety regulations.

What you'll be doing:
Setup and maintain undergraduate laboratories, under the direction of Technical Leadership.
Prepare and distribute any required solutions and chemicals prior to the execution of laboratory exercises using course documentation. Same materials will be disposed of, in a manner that complies with regulatory constraints after labs have been conducted.
Responsibly handle chemicals in a way that adheres to chemical safety regulations.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, calibrating and making adjustments as required. Equipment will be distributed and collected as required for each laboratory exercise.
Coordinate repair or replacement of broken equipment on a timeline that does not impact execution of labs. Equipment maintenance may include hardware and software issues.
Maintaining the laboratory physical infrastructure; works with Building Commandant to coordinate repairs and upgrades in a way that minimizes impact on the academic and research programs.
Maintaining appropriate levels of laboratory equipment and supplies on a timeline that does not impact execution of labs. This involves forecasting requirements and coordinating supply actions.
Assist faculty and staff in the supervision of laboratory exercises. This includes pre-laboratory setup and wet-chemistry preparation as well as a presence during actual execution.
Work with faculty on changes to laboratory procedures, ensuring that objectives are achieved and inventories of chemicals and equipment support new initiatives.
Provide similar levels of support for Outreach activities.
Able to lift 60 lbs.
What you'll need to have:
High School diploma
3+ years of general professional experience
1+ year of experience working in an academic environment
Previous experience working with the military
