Position Summary
This position functions as a professional chemist, under close supervision, within the Chemistry Section. This position maintains an emphasis on: analysis of agriculturally related samples including, acute pesticide/fertilizer spills, soil and other matrices for pesticides and/or industrial chemical residues as well as analysis of groundwater and surface samples for pesticides, pesticide metabolites and/or industrial chemical residues. This position would also confirm any reported pesticide or toxin residues by recognized procedures including GC/MS, LC/MS, or Multiple Column Chromatography.
This employee has further responsible for the analysis of other units' samples (e.g. feed, fertilizer, food, etc.) as is necessary or assigned. Sample work assignments or areas of emphasis may be adjusted by management staff to meet the operational needs of the laboratory, including maximizing work efficiency during the year and/or cross-training of staff to support other units.

Salary Information
The classification of this position is Chemist, which is in schedule-range 15-04 with a starting pay of $25.50-$27.75 per hour. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
