Examples of Work

This position will prepare and analyze drinking water, surface water, and wastewater samples for ammonia, total kjeldahl nitrogen, total phosphorus, chloride, nitrate, nitrite, fluoride, and miscellaneous inorganic parameters. Serve as back up analyst for BOD/CBOD, cyanide, and sulfate.

Alternate weekend work performing minimal microbiological testing is required for this position. Performs other analytical and quality control duties on an as needed basis. Responsible for presenting and conducting themselves in a professional manner at all times when representing the laboratory, will be working with both internal and external State and Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) partners.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Post high school coursework/training in chemistry or biochemistry, and experience in an applied testing laboratory with responsibility for chemical analysis.

PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or laboratory science with practical environmental laboratory experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: the principles of chemistry and biology related to the work assigned; flow injection analysis technique; computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Access Skill in: the selection, use, and care of laboratory equipment; safe handling of chemicals and hazardous waste; troubleshooting lab instrumentation Ability to: follow laboratory procedures and conduct tests using flow injection analyzers; interpret data correctly and record results; communicate technical questions and findings clearly and effectively in all modes of communication; organize projects and work efficiently; work with limited supervision; compose correspondence using correct grammar, punctuation and spelling; relay knowledge gained to co-workers to recognize and solve problems; present and conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times when representing the laboratory; lift up 50lb containers.

Each week, schedules are arranged based on various customer events. This team generally works during every Husker Game. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Responsible for maintaining and setting up food production and quality control of all meat, fish, fowl, sauces, stocks, seasonings, and other food items prepared in a specific station. * Prepare and cook food efficiently in a timely manner while ensuring a high quality level of food production and presentation. * Correctly store food by utilizing proper rotation and dating. * Keep all refrigeration, storage and working areas in clean, sanitized and working condition to comply with Health Department regulations. * Responsible for set up station, breakdown, and all necessary advance prep. * Prepare all station specific food items according to standard recipes (or as specified on guest check) to ensure consistency of product to the guest. * Ensure coolers are cleaned, organized and locked after work is finished. * Perform general cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards. * Perform all other related duties and special projects as requested and/or assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: * Prior 1-2 years of Line Cook or relatable experience is required. HS Diploma preferred, Culinary or Apprenticeship program preferred. * Must be able to work a varied schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, holidays, game days and the ability to work under pressure. * Ability to obtain and maintain an active Lancaster County Food Handler Certification as well as any additional training / certification requirements per Marcus Hotels / Resorts, Marriott and Lancaster County * Ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry, or otherwise move goods weighing up to 100 lbs. on a continuous schedule. * Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to use all kitchen equipment, i.e., knives, spoons, spatulas, tongs, slicers, etc. * Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations; distinguish product, taste, texture, and presentation; and observe preparation. * Extensive experience with slicers, mixers, grinders, food processors, etc. Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service levels for a high volume restaurant. Thorough knowledge of food products, standard recipes, and proper preparation. * Basic mathematical skills necessary to understand recipes, measurements, requisition amounts, and portion sizes. * Basic English language to communicate with other staff and ensure accuracy of the food orders. * Must be able to represent the company in a professional, well-groomed and courteous manner at all times.
