The Reagent Design Group is looking for a highly motivated R&D Chemist to join our team, dedicated to designing quality reagents that advance our immunoassay pipeline. A successful candidate will have solid technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, learning agility, and excel in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary working environment. As a crucial member of our team, this senior scientist will lead efforts to design and optimize critical reagents for innovative assay products across various technology platforms.

What will you do?

  • Plan and execute multi-step small molecule synthesis, protein conjugate preparation, and purification.

  • Characterize reagents with various analytical tools and analyze data to control quality and establish predictive analytics.

  • Apply statistical design of experiments to define reagent design space.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize reagent designs and meet assay performance and manufacturing requirements.

  • Communicate reagent design, results, and conclusions to a multidisciplinary audience to drive actions and facilitate decision-making.

  • Document experiments and other lab or production activities. Prepare reports and design history files.

  • Participate in project timeline creation and management to accomplish project goals on time and with a high degree of quality.

  • Order and maintain equipment and work area.

  • Identify methods to continually improve reagent processes and increase efficiency.

  • Maintain knowledge of products and procedures, developments in the field and industry, and regulatory environment. Adhere to appropriate procedures and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in conferences, webinars, and seminars to continue to develop knowledge base.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Ph.D. in organic chemistry and 1-3 years of experience working in an industry setting (or postdoc equivalent) is required.

  • Expertise in multi-step small molecule synthesis, purification, and characterization.

  • Broad experience in protein conjugation chemistry, formulation, conjugate purification, and characterization is highly desired.

  • Experience in assay design and new product development is preferred.

  • Proven critical thinking, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong initiative, result-oriented, flexible, positive attitude, and passion for learning and developing new technical and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to create and manage work plans to meet timelines with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain timely, accurate, and clear documentation.

  • Well-versed in safe laboratory practices.
