Mission Statement Jacobs provides field, range, testing, chemical, and biological laboratory support to the U.S. Army at the West Desert Test Center (WDTC) located at Dugway Proving Ground (DPG), UT.

As a major test site for the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, the WDTC is responsible for the test and evaluation of chemical and biological (CB) defense systems, incendiary and smoke/obscuration munitions systems, and related operational concepts.In addition to these responsibilities, we also support non-CB testing at the WDTC for the DOD and other Federal agencies, including environmental assessment/impact evaluation and munitions demilitarization. Our Dugway Operation was established in 2004 with the award of the Field, Range, Chamber, and Laboratory Support Services (FRC&LSS) contract to Jacobs.

Through the FRC&LSS contract, we have integrated with Mellor Engineering, TOPE, and JRAD with a composite staff size of more than 170 personnel. Job Description JRAD is seeking a Chemist I to support the Dugway Proving Ground (DPG) contract. The successful candidate will be responsible to act as the chemist on tests involving Chemical Warfare Agents (CWA), Toxic Industrial Chemicals, Toxic Industrial Materials, or simulants of CWAs.

Prefer BS with 4 years relevant experience or MS degree in related scientific field. Have solid hands-on experience with chemical and/or material properties testing. Analytical experience a plus.

Lead a team of analysts, lab technicians, and chemists on test projects. Act as lead for method development projects. Qualify for the Personal Reliability Program and security clearance.

Work with CWAs and other highly toxic chemicals. Review and accept technical documents and provide a technical response. Coordinate closely with the government test officer on projects.

Manage all day-to-day issues associated with project execution. Here's what you'll need: Required Education and Experience: o Physical Requirements:

The Chemist I must have a Baccalaureate degree in chemistry (or equivalent training and have one (1) year of experience with direct government or contractor supporting government laboratory operations contracts), other physical science, or engineering, and a minimum of one (1) years of laboratory experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Able to work with or around highly toxic materials. Must clearly demonstrate capability to effectively generate and obtain data, evaluate data, define problems, and design experiments. Must be capable of planning and executing a project with nominal guidance.

Must be proficient in gas chromatography, spectroscopy, or other analytical instrumentation used in the laboratory. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of set-up, operation, sampling, calibration, quality control, data collection, and troubleshooting for test monitoring in a chemical agent or simulant environment. Must achieve a Level III Agent Handler certification from DPG or other Government facility approved to handle chemical warfare agents and in a Government CPRP and have experience using Solid Sorbent Tube (SST) samplers and bubblers.

Must achieve test process and safety air monitoring MINICAMS Operator certification. Must have completed a minimum of 40 hours of on-the-job training in test and process monitoring. Must demonstrate testing operations proficiency and obtain certification for test process and safety air monitoring MINICAMS Operator prior to performing actual work in testing support.

Training/certification provided by Government to operate Miniature Chemical Agent Monitoring System (MINICAMS) and air monitoring devices as part of test procedures for test and safety air monitoring purposes. The government will allow 6 months training period for Level 3 Agent Handler and test process MINICAMS certification. Must be competent in basic computer software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). Medium- Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Work Environment Generally, an outdoor environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting). Outside work may include various environmental conditions including hot and cold climates. Needs to be able to work well with co-workers and all levels of management.

No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions. Equipment and Machines Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work-related tools as required. Attendance Regular hours will be between Monday-Thursday 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements. Other Essential Functions Must always demonstrate professional behavior when dealing with customers, management, and co-workers. Must have clear, concise, and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.

Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required.

Travel to and from customer's locations and the test fields may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel.When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion. This position will require a valid driver license to operate a variety of vehicles. #ANSDPG
