About the role:

The position of Chemist has, as its primary responsibility, professional chemical support for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished product quality. He/she will monitor lab test results, and product quality; and provide guidance and coordination to make the necessary adjustments to assure established quality standards are maintained.


What you'll be doing:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.

  • Maintain quality parameters that meet the necessary requirements outlined by ASTM, AASHTO, State DOT, and customer requests.

  • Provide quality and process interpretation for the clinker through microscopy in polished samples.

  • Calibrate, maintain and certify instrumentation and analytical equipment.

  • Maintain analytical equipment calibration and certification Provide training for new employees or new techniques for existing employees.

  • Ensures a safe work environment and safe working procedures are developed and maintained.

  • Other duties as assigned.


We're looking for:

Required Education: Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree

Field of Study Preferred: Chemistry or other related fields, Knowledge of inorganic chemistry is an asset

Required Work Experience: 5-7 years

Required Computer and Software Skills:Above average skills needed

Travel Requirements:Minimal

Additional Requirements:

  • Equipment Operation: XRF, XRD, Sample Preparation, LECO C/S Analyzer, Physical Lab Testing Equipment, Sieving Apparatus

  • Required Personal Protective Equipment: Steel Toe Boots, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills

  • Solid technical and professional knowledge

  • Demonstrates initiative and pro-activity

  • Strong quality and customer orientation

  • Able to help build a cohesive team; facilitate the collaboration of people and cross-functional groups

  • Solid leadership skills
