Job Summary

This position is for a Chemical / Process Engineer. In this role and as valued member of our Engineering Department, you will provide engineering support for research and development activities, testing, troubleshooting, and project design. Candidate needs to possess a fundamental understanding of mass balances, energy balance, and fluid transfer dynamics, as well as, problem analysis and attack skills. It is expected that you will apply chemical engineering principles to enhance the process and make fundamental improvements to procedures, as well ensure that all aspects of the process meet specified safety and environmental regulations. This position is client facing and a successful candidate will be a professional, self-motivated, and energetic individual with excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

Responsibilities typically include:

  • Develop process design basis and select unit operations

  • Prepare process flow & piping and instrumentation diagrams

  • Develop mass and energy balances

  • Specify process and utility equipment

  • Develop process control strategies and operating manuals

  • Assist with equipment procurement and bid evaluation

  • Support project management with the development of project scope, budget and schedule for all process related work

  • Development and execution of laboratory test programs

  • Evaluation of pilot and full-scale processes

  • Training of client staff in proper process operation and maintenance practices

  • Participate in Start-up and Commissioning

  • Excellent verbal, technical and written communication skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.

  • 2+ years of process engineering experience

  • Prior experience in data analytics

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 years of process engineering experience

  • Water, power or oil & gas industries engineering experience.

  • AutoCAD experience.

  • EIT preferred.

  • Proficient with simulation tools like AspenTech, HYSYS, AspenPlus.

  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

The Cleans team is focused on optimizing Samsung's cutting edge processes and technologies for large scale production. As part of the Cleans team, you will provide support in problem solving opportunities and intense learning, exposure to multiple toolsets and exotic chemistries for new devices, and state of the art wafer surface preparation. SAS is focused on being the World's Best Foundry product supplier. Role and Responsibilities * Process innovations for inline, defect or cost improvements. * Participates in cross-departmental and fab to fab TFTs and teams for fab wide initiatives e.g. standardization activities, tool to tool matching, cost reduction, defect reduction, as well as throughput improvement projects. * Trains and mentors process technicians. * Provides process expertise inside and outside of the department. * Communicates technical information to Cleans leadership through presentations. * Creates and evolves Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). * Process layer ownership: including monitoring of SPC/DCOP charts, interlock setup, process issue investigations, SOP creation and process improvements. * Process startup ownership for new Cleans tools. * Strong skills in logical and objective data analysis with an ability to establish and track metrics to meet department goals. * Activities with other engineering, production and support organizations for fab start up and mass volume production of leading edge logic devices. * Providing innovative real time quick response and solutions to line issues to help maintain manufacturing requirements while maintaining the highest level of quality. * Shift: Wednesday through Friday and alternating Saturday Skills and Qualifications * BS degree in Engineering or Physical Science. * 1+ years at SAS and 4+ years in High Volume Manufacturing environment. * Direct experience in a 300mm mass production environment is a plus. * Prior Clean Single Wafer Process engineering experience in a plus. * Proven success in capacity, yield, defect, uptime improvement project ownership. * Proven ability to conduct DOE and Benchmark studies and to apply SPC principles. * Strong data analysis, troubleshooting, teamwork, and communication skills. * Aptitude and desire to learn new skills. * Six Sigma certification and/or use of LEAN improvement tools a plus. * Ability to thrive in a multi-cultural environment. * Fab Startups, Cleans process experience on DNS, SEMES, TEL, FSI, EP AMAT, or EP LAM platforms. * Please visit Samsung membership to see Privacy Policy, which defaults according to your location.
