Chemical Process Engineer

An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Chemical Process Engineer at Honeywell's Performance Materials and Technologies manufacturing facility located in Geismar, LA. Geismar is centrally located near Baton Rouge, LA and New Orleans, LA.

  • Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly production totals and metrics. Coordinates production priorities to meet customer demand. May provide instructions to operations personnel during supervisor's absence.

  • Responsible for creating and monitoring of yields, OEE, key process indicators, and product quality.

  • Works closely with operations to troubleshoot issues and maintain plant stability.

  • Ensures HSE and PSM requirements are met at all times.

  • Responsible for environmental tracking and reporting

  • Works with site and corporate process engineering groups and R&D to define and execute productivity projects.

  • Utilizes data acquisition and manipulation techniques to interpret results and recommend corrective action for optimum plant operation. Implements corrective action as directed using the management of change (MOC) process.

  • Conducts economic studies for optimization of production rates and costs for justification of projects concerned with plant changes and/or fixed capital additions.

  • Prepares or assists in preparation of process designs including equipment specifications, flow diagrams, P&ID's, and operating instructions for modification or additions to existing plants.

  • Actively participate in PHA/HAZOP reviews and close out action items.

  • Other duties and assignments as needed by supervision/management.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 0-2 years of experience in production / process engineering in environments such as; chemical, petro-chemical, pulp & paper, nuclear or pharmaceutical

WE VALUE:

  • Understanding of chemical unit operations, engineering calculations and principles.

  • Distillation experience highly preferred.

  • Process simulation experience preferred.

  • Understanding and knowledge of PSM (Process Safety Management)

  • Self driven with high level of initiative.

  • Goal and results driven.

  • Excellent organization, planning, oral and written communications skills.

  • Ability to work and promote a team environment.

  • Excellent computer skills (ability to learn advance computer simulation tools)
