Job Description

The Materials & Processes Engineering (MPE) department is seeking highly motivated and qualified laboratory technicians to join a world class team advancing the future of jet propulsion. At Pratt & Whitney, MPE is responsible for developing and delivering advanced materials technologies and manufacturing solutions to enable system level enhancements for both Military and Commercial jet engines. Core duties of these roles will include, but are not limited to performing material sample preparation, executing lab experiments, equipment operation and maintenance, data acquisition and a commitment to promoting a safe working environment. We have multiple openings for experienced technicians in the below fields:

  • Metallurgical Sample Preparation

  • Optical and Electron Microscopy

  • Process and Analytical Chemistry

  • Composites Manufacturing

  • Thermal Spray or Other Production Coating Processes

  • Non Destructive Evaluation / Test (NDE / NDT)

  • Mechanical Testing / Servo-Hydraulic Equipment & Control

  • Mechatronics

  • Electronics / Computer Programing

  • CAD & Drafting

  • Machining / EDM / Water Jet

  • Other general lab or manufacturing equipment

Working Environment

These roles are 100% on-site in hands-on laboratories.

Basic Qualifications

  • AS degree in a Technical or STEM field
  • 6+ years' experience
  • US Citizen for certain roles driven by program requirements or US Person

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with aerospace or gas turbine materials and manufacturing processes

  • Experience in an R&D laboratory or production support environment

  • Mechanically inclined

  • Working proficiency with MS Office Suite and SAP a bonus

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to build positive relationships

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Promoting teamwork and an inclusive environment

Travel up to 10%

Just look up. Are you ready to go beyond? We have a rare opportunity for a talented Sales & Operations Sr. Materials Analyst Military Engines to be part of the team. The Integrated Business Planning (IBP) team within Pratt & Whitney is a rapidly growing organization established to drive customer demand and supply capacity strategies across the enterprise. Balancing demand and supply for Commercial Engines, Military Engines, Operations and Supply Chain network. Major functions of the IBP organization are Sales & Operations Planning, Materials Planning, Inventory, and Risk Management. In this role as S&OP Sr. Material Analyst, Military Engines, you will be responsible to lead Integrated Business Planning processes, Master Production Scheduling changes, MRP change process and Sales & Operations process management for Military Engines. Stabilizing demand and synchronizing supply to improve customer delivery and enable business growth during an unprecedented production environment. This role will also focus on aligning S&OP transformation strategies and requirements to improve demand planning. You will work with a variety of organizations to gain alignment on production plans and support executable schedules loaded in the system. Key Responsibilities: * Support all ME programs ( F135, F119,F100, TF33, Tanker, APU ). * Lead of Military Engines MRP change process and coordination with different organizations to align schedules in SAP. * Strategic planning of engine and spares changes to support a timely update considering all processes that impact MRP as well as to minimize impact to supply chain schedule stability. * Identify risks to the demand changes to facilitate vetting process, build mitigation plans, and drive actions to closure. * Facilitates post load integration meetings between operations and programs to balance demand and supply where cost and risk is evaluated and actions to improve future needs are assigned to the responsible organizations. * Manages Tier 1 part list process (Critical and top demand drivers part numbers) and assures compliance with SIOP MRP change PW process level 2. * Responsible for senior level Ops SIOP presentations and participate in key meetings. * Collaborates with CE SIOP to standardize processes, reports, and metrics for both businesses. * Understand ME Programs and Operations business processes and bridge them to systems implementations. * Facilitate communication among business units to solve complex MRP business challenges. * Leads SIOP projects where analysis of complex data to see trends and evaluate risk to the business is critical. * Utilize Bill of Materials (BOM) and Cost curves to assess impact of potential changes and risk to implementation in support of the SIOP vetting process. * Change driver agent, lead and facilitate improvements with businesses in support to SIOP. * Ability to work with minimal supervision, educate and influence others to utilize SIOP processes. * Candidate most have strong leadership skills and the ability to convey effective direction using strong written and verbal skills. * Position may require a minimum of 10% travel. There will be occasional travel to the Farmington, CT and East Hartford, CT offices.
