Duties: Review design and be involved in construction, commissioning, and startup and operations of a renewable diesel plant, including the following:

Review detailed engineering company design submittals, especially heat and material balance (HMB), process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), utility summaries, battery limits schedules, and equipment specifications.

Develop capital project scope, design, and cost benefit analysis. Improve upon and optimize existing processes to achieve higher safety, quality, capacity, flexibility, and reduced cost to meet customer expectations.

Provide senior level engineering capabilities for process evaluation, optimization of renewal diesel plant operations, project design, start-up, troubleshooting, and testing of process units. Drive business decision making process for capital projects and debottlenecking projects. Carried out Process simulation work using process simulators.

Responsible for overall operating performance ensuring systems and processes are in place to drive safety and environmental performance by each workgroup. Perform studies on the effects of operating variables on product quality, yield, and profitability. Build and develop the plant economics models and dashboards and assist executive management.

Understands company PSM program and ensures operational and plant compliance. Maintain proper records and logs of activities and operating conditions, review and approve procedures, and prepare/ update "on call" schedules. Write process specifications for problem solving, optimization, or new projects, which include HMBs, PFDs, and P&IDs, equipment specification, and instrumentation specifications.

Develop plant operating procedures, standards, templates and KPI sheets. Participate in the implementation of key process safety management programs including Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, PreStartup Safety Review and Process Safety Information, and lead these activities as needed. Facilitate and participate HAZOP, SIL, HAZID and LOPA.

Lead the development of both small and large capital projects as assigned. Make recommendations for capital investments throughout Seaboard Energy, LLC; and partner closely with Production and Maintenance departments to ensure the optimal resolution of operating problems. Developed Catalyst management activities such as annual catalyst change-out plans, providing troubleshooting assistance to Operations regarding catalyst operating problems.

Liaison with catalyst and third-party catalyst handling contractors and loading contractors. Assist and help direct departmental managers for plant related activities. Plan, review, and schedule project work with the plant manager; and administer the MOC process and support the operation of the plant.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related plus five years of related experience.

Experience must include: at least five years of experience in oil refining or renewable fuels, including experience in the development of HMBs, PFDs, and P&IDs. Experience in refinery start up operations, including writing procedures, standards, and processes to comply with U.S. regulations. Experience in optimization of refinery, Gas processing, and renewable diesel plants.

Experience developing equipment specifications for equipment such as pumps, vessels, and heat exchangers, and experience evaluation quotations. Experience in process simulations such as Hysys, KBC Petrosim, PROII, HTRI. Ability to define and solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Experience in establishing engineering calculation templates, descriptions, refinery economic models. Experience in handling units operations such as Hydrocracker, Hydrogen, Diesel Hydrotreater, Amine and Boilers. Experience in Front end design, detail design, construction, commissioning.

Experience in debottlenecking and upgrading projects. Travel may be required to corporate office in Kansas and other locations on an as needed basis up to 10% of time. Must be able to perform normal chemical engineering calculations including fluid dynamics and heat transfer and have a working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including ANSI, ASME, and API.

Pay commensurate with experience.</p></li><li><p>Experience in the design or operations of biofuels a plus.</p></li><li><p>Previous experience in the development of HMBs, PFDs, and P&amp;IDs required.</p></li><li><p>A working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including ANSI, ASME, and API required.</p></li><li><p>Previous experience with performing pump hydraulics, line sizing, and pump curve evaluation. Ability to size control valves and relief valves preferred.</p></li><li><p>Experience developing equipment specifications for equipment such as pumps, vessels, and heat exchangers, and experience evaluation quotations.</p></li><li><p>Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) preferred.</p></li><li><p>Ability to perform normal chemical engineering calculations such as fluid dynamics and heat transfer.</p></li><li><p>Experience in process simulation a requirement. Previous experience with Petro-SIM a plus.</p></li><li><p>Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
