The Opportunity

We are seeking an entry-level, ambitious chemical engineer with strong fundamentals, a curious and creative mind-set, attention to detail, and the desire to learn and grow within our multi-disciplinary environment. This hands-on position will offer exposure to all project phases from concept to product development.

You will support development of fuel cell system and components under the guidance of industry leaders, which includes 14 Ph.D.s, offering an opportunity to learn technical and project management skills with a clear path for career advancement. You will be required to research, review, and stay up to date with relevant technical literature and have the opportunity to contribute to publications, including patents.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and test catalyst materials
  • Test fuel processors and oxidizers
  • Controls development and component evaluation
  • Test rig development and assembly
  • Controls logic development and debugging
  • Carefully document data to assess components and processes
  • Review and stay up to date with relevant technical literature
  • Gather and summarize test data for analysis and presentation to senior staff

Requirements

Who You Are

  • BS in Chemical Engineering with 0-3 years experience, and comfortable with thermodynamics, reactor design, reaction kinetics, heat transfer, fluid flow
  • Solid understanding of chemical reaction kinetics and reactor design (e.g. - fuel processing, reforming, water gas shift, partial oxidation, sorption, etc.)
  • Familiarity with catalytic reactors and/or electrochemistry and materials/catalyst synthesis desirable
  • Experience with analytical techniques, controls, chemical process software and CFD a plus
  • Experience with LABVIEW, ASPEN/CHEMCAD, FLUENT/COMSOL software is preferred

We are looking for an exceptional engineer with strong fundamentals, passion, creativity, and the ability to work on multiple projects</p><p>You will perform component and system level testing including chemical (e.g. chemical reactions, fuel reforming, burner and sorption) and electrical (fuel cells, electrical circuitry, electronics boards, and control hardware) systems. </p><p>Other responsibilities will include:</p><ul><li>Support test rig set-up, including system integration.</li><li>Develop, evaluate, and validate thermal management systems.</li><li>Develop fuel cell operational and controls strategies and perform fuel cell related calculations (power, heat, flow, system efficiency).</li><li>Troubleshoot hardware (pumps, sensors, controllers, etc.) & control software, including identification and resolution of test set-up, test protocols, and/or system and component related issues.</li><li>Control logic development and debugging (CAN, LabVIEW, etc.).</li><li>Perform data analysis (electrical, fluid, mechanical, and thermal systems), identifying system risks and improvements, and root cause and failure analysis at the component and systems level.</li></ul><p>If this piques your interest, <strong>Apply Now!</strong><br></p><p><strong>Please Note: We are unable to sponsor Visas.</strong></p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><h3>Who You Are</h3><ul><li>BS/MS in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or battery/fuel cell system integration.</li><li>Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid flow.</li><li>Proven mechanical, electrical, and hardware troubleshooting skills and experience.</li><li>Hands-on experience in an engineering lab environment with excellent problem-solving skills and high level of analytical ability.</li><li>Ability to work in a team environment to accomplish program goals as well as work independently to accomplish individual tasks; this position requires strong interaction in a multi-functional team environment, particularly in high-pressure situations.</li><li>Knowledge of fuel cell systems (knowledge of batteries and power electronics a plus)</li><li>Experience with environmental testing (shock, vibration).</li><li>Ability to travel as required for offsite testing/commissioning</li></ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><h3>What PCI Offers You</h3><p>At PCI you’ll find cohesive teams and a culture that promotes open communication and support.
