Job Responsibilities/Duties

Responsible for performing tank waste inventory and characterization including maintenance of the Best-Basis Inventory and Tank Waste Information Network System. Specific activities include developing inventories and characterization reports for tank waste; preparing plans and data quality objectives for waste sampling and characterization events for the tank farm contractor; integrating with analytical laboratories; interpretation of chemical data for outside organizations; maintaining the monthly Tank Waste Summary Report; and coordination of technical and programmatic aspects with multiple internal and external interfacing organizations including Production Operations, Project Integration, Engineering, Technology Development, 222-S Laboratory, ORP, DNFSB, Washington State Department of Ecology, and other external regulators and stakeholders.Develop chemical inventories of waste tanks (Best-Basis Inventory) using sample data, process knowledge, and model data.

*Create spreadsheets and supporting documents for process knowledge information or other applications as requested.Write sample and analysis plans for tank waste, environmental, and multi-media samples.Prepare and administer sampling program requirements via Quality Assurance documents, procedures, and assessments.

*Facilitate and prepare data quality objectives as described in EPA QA/G-4.Review and reconcile characterization data (analytical, radiochemical, and mineralogical).Prepare the monthly Tank Waste Summary Report.Develop clear, concise, and error-free engineering documents.Review and complete Problem Evaluation Requests.Prepare updates to spreadsheets for Protective Action Criteria, Unit Liter Dose, and Sum of Fractions.Extensive knowledge of spreadsheets, solvers, and data comparison.Provide support for data uploads, review and comparison of analytical data, and addition of new/revised data.Obtain and maintain Engineering Technical Staff and Process Engineering Qualification cards.Preparation of reports, spreadsheets, or other work products includes satisfactory disposition and resolution of comments submitted by others.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering or related Engineering degree and 7-10 years of related experience.

Desired Qualifications

Masters degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.Previous Hanford experience.Previous inventory and characterization experience, including sampling, laboratory, and data analysis.Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate technical information to programmatic and regulatory personnel. Requires the ability to effectively perform in multi-discipline cross-functional teams that define RPP mission objectives, including occasional assignment as a team leader.

The Plant Engineer protects the installed configuration of the plant systems, and provides technical support and issue resolution needed for operation and maintenance of the plant equipment. Under direction of the Plant Engineering Manager interacts with other Plant Engineers, Operations, Maintenance, WTP Project groups, subcontractors, and equipment vendors as required to perform job assignments. This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control and supervision of WTCC. Other tasks may be assigned, based on business needs and the department supervisors request SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES NA PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual AECOM has joined with Bechtel to create an LLC, known as the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) to construct, start-up and commission the world's largest radioactive-waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in southeastern Washington state. The project will use vitrification technology to process and stabilize 53 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste currently stored at the Hanford Site which is a byproduct of plutonium-production during World War II and the Cold War era. The project is the largest undertaking of its kind ever and one of DOE's most technically challenging cleanup projects—equivalent to building two nuclear power plants. Its construction site spans 65 acres and includes facilities for pretreatment, low-activity waste vitrification, and high-level waste vitrification, as well as an analytical laboratory. Minimum Requirements REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS Education : Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in Chemical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university.
