Job Description:

  • Must use and handle chemicals such as soda ash, Nitric and Sulfuric acids, Resorcinol, Sodium Sulfate, Magnesium Styphnate, Lead Nitrite, and other related chemicals and solutions. Identify, transport, and store explosive materials according to specified safety procedures.

    Operate and tend mixing kettles, drowning tanks, storage tanks, filters, disposable tubs, etc. to manufacture the explosive ingredients used in priming mixtures. Perform and maintain appropriate paper work and record keeping, maintaining inventory and BATFE requirements of licenses. Perform tasks such as reading and calibrating PH meters, moisture balances, and basic math skills to adjust solutions for proper makeup and other tasks needed to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

    Must be able to lift 40+ pounds. Combine various ingredients into premixes by weighing, sieving and blending raw materials according to specified formulas. Combine wet initialing powders, oxidizers, and fuel powders by use of a mixing machine from a remote control house to make wet priming mixtures.

    Identify transport and store explosive mixture according to specified procedure. Perform and maintain appropriate paper work and record keeping. Perform other task in associated area as needed.

    Employees must adhere to all explosive safety procedures at all times. This position requires a valid driver's license and a good driving record. Must complete a written aptitude evaluation and interview process.

Prior to assignment in an explosive area, employee must be examined by plant physician. This will include the requirements of the periodic physical plus EKG.

Prior to being placed in the assignment, successful bidders will be required to submit completed forms to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE) for certification as an "Employee Possessor" under the terms of this act. Submission of this form will also result in a background check being performed by the BATFE to determine the employee's eligibility to possess explosives. Copies of the "Employee Possessor" form are available on the Lonoke Plant Intranet on the Human Resources page.

Additionally, this position will install equipment at company and customer locations and complete work orders and inventory cycle counts as directed. This technician will assist in attaining assigned goals for safety, installations, and training. Assuring safety standards are met which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines is of the utmost importance for this position. Responsibilities * Provide prompt and efficient service to all customers, including installation of tanks (propane, refined fuel, and lubricant) and service of existing equipment and systems * Work individually or as part of a crew during construction or installation of any petroleum, propane, or associated equipment at company and customer locations * Conduct service work as scheduled * Clean and maintain equipment assigned to position * Perform work in a safe manner at all times according to company safety procedures * Make sure all "out of gas" calls are handled according to the company's procedures * Provide home office with required information and records on a timely basis * Inspect all customer installations (tanks, pumps, regulators, lines, etc.) to assure safe, dependable operations * Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair system and equipment issues as assigned * Maintain inventory of parts and equipment * Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as directed * Perform after-hours emergency service as scheduled * Maintain inventory of non-fuel related parts and equipment * Ensure all customer documentation is accurately completed, including service documentation, credit application, propane tank lease and transfers * Maintain accurate and complete records of all fixed assets assigned to the plant, including loaned customer equipment * Assist plant manager in establishing all eligible customers as members * Deliver refined fuel and propane products as needed and assigned by logistics team * Communicate any necessary changes and/or issues directly to supervisor * Operate vehicle safely, according to policies and guidelines set forth by law or by MFA Oil Company * Provide feedback to supervisor regarding customer needs * Properly use handheld systems as needed * Communicate any issues as they relate to safety or efficiencies to supervisor for both trucks and equipment * Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any truck safety issues immediately to supervisor, as well as maintaining truck in a neat and clean condition * Be knowledgeable about all products and services offered by company * Present a positive image of MFA Oil Company to the community * Support and understand company policies and procedures and can communicate those to customers as needed * Relay all customer inquiries to supervisor and appropriate plant manager * Identify and inform supervisor of additional training needs * Maintain good working relationship with all employees * Know and adhere to company policies and procedures * Follow posted work schedule and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours worked * Maintain timely and professional communication with management, employees, vendors and customers * Keep supervisor informed of any problems and/or any issues that need attention * All other duties as assigned Job Requirements * Legal authorization to work in the United States of America * High school diploma or GED equivalent * Ability to move and position self to move and retrieve products and supplies from shelves, under counters or stacks of inventory weighing up to 100 poundsAbility to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery * Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or sitting) for up to nine hours per shift * Ability to lift 25-pound boxes to a height of 3-4 feet and load them into trucks * Ability to ascend and descend ladders in order to deliver fuel * Ability to learn new concepts and use technical materials * Vision, hearing, speech and ability to detect odors * Ability to consistently drive and work in outdoor weather conditions * Availability to work a rotating on-call schedule, holidays, weekends, and after regular business as needed * Willingness to work with hazardous materials * Ability to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles * Reliable transportation to work * Willingness to become propane (CETP) certified as determined by the state(s) you will service * Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker, HAZMAT, and air brake endorsements within the first 60 days of employment, and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements * Training and/or experience in truck and equipment maintenance * Willingness to become MFA Oil crane certified * Ability to exchange accurate information with MFA Oil Company customers * Ability to meet company requirements including successful pre-employment drug screening, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), criminal background check, and MFA Oil Company road test Preferred Skills * Mechanical skills (basic plumbing, electrical, and general carpentry) * Ability to work both independently and in a team environment * Ability to work under timelines and pressure * Strong communication skills * Ability to work at a fast pace * Sales abilities * Enthusiastic personality * Stamina MFA Oil Lonoke AR
