Center for Change is seeking an experienced full-time Chef/Kitchen Manager to work with the kitchen staff and the dietary team to prepare appetizing and nutritional meals for inpatients at the Center.

Schedule:

We are seeking a manager to work varied shifts throughout the week. Schedule has some flexibiity

Responsibilities:

  • Train and directly supervise Kitchen staff, create their schedules and fill in as necessary

  • Maintain high standards in the preparation of quality hot and cold foods following established recipes, including main dish production and portion control

  • Work with Food Service Manager regarding special dietary needs and apply any special dietary restrictions to recipes

  • Unpack food deliveries; stock and rotate products

  • Ensure quality and safety standards for preparing and serving food

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment in accordance with Health Department Standards

The Center's Philosophy:

Center for Change is a specialty hospital for the treatment of women suffering from eating disorders. The Center's philosophy on treating eating disorders focuses on providing patients with opportunities to explore and redevelop a healthy relationship with food, helping them eat intuitively according to hunger and fullness. Each patient at the Center receives weekly individual counseling sessions with a Registered Dietitian and attends weekly nutrition classes which focus on a variety of topics such as relearning the ability to sense hunger and fullness, making peace with food, and enjoying the eating experience. The Kitchen Staff work closely with the dietitians in the planning and preparation of meals and snacks.

Job Requirements

  • Experience handling food and preparing meals for medium to large groups of people (40 - 50)

  • One year chef or culinary experience preferred

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe Certification is required

  • Exhibit basic to advanced culinary knowledge (including products, terminology, and cooking techniques) and knife skills

  • Ability to work well within a team environment

  • Age of 18 or older

Wage / Salary:

Dependent upon experience

This is a very fast pace environment and must have a sense of urgency. * Professional cake decorating experience is not required but useful. Qualifications: * Pastry and baking experience, preferred but not required. * Culinary school is not a must, but a plus. * Must be quick with hands and be able to multi-task. * Must be able to lift 50 lbs above waist. * Must pay attention to detail and follow corporate recipes and guidelines. * Must be able and willing to maintain a clean working environment. * Looking for full-time availability * Must be able to work early in the day, shifts start at 4am & end around noon daily. * Starting wage is $13/hr.
