GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, but according to established policies and procedures, is responsible for coordinating the activities of Cooks and Food Service Assistants in preparing and cooking foods for Hospital patients, staff and visitors.
Reviews daily preparation and production plans and menus; implements adjustments and ensures that high quality products are provided in accordance with the overall menu plans of the department.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in culinary arts, hotel restaurant institution management, or related field required or seven years commensurate experience in restaurant, hotel or healthcare operation.
Five years of job related experience. Knowledge of quantity food production techniques and practices as well as specific knowledge of health care food service policies, procedures and recipes.
Certification by the Michigan Department of Public Health, The National Registry of Food Safety Professionals, Certified Food Safety Manager or Servsafe Food Protection Manager Certification is required or obtained within 6 months of employment.
