The Cheese Utility Operator I develops and maintains a working knowledge of all plant positions to assist with personnel shortages thereby meeting manufacturing requirements in accordance with organization and customer needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Know how to operate every piece of equipment in use in the cheese department, filling in for employees as needed.
Coach new employees on equipment operations, work and safety procedures.
Assist operators with any equipment questions or repairs.
Coach operators on new equipment and new techniques.
Assist in all special GMP, Safety, or equipment training.
Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure the operators conform to production and processing standards.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform minor repairs on equipment as needed.
Complete special projects as directed.
This position may require schedule changes on short notice.
Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
Support safety policies and programs.

No previous experience required; on-the-job training provided.
Minimum one (1) year of related experience preferred.
Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Ability to follow written, verbal and diagrammatic instructions; complete simple checklists and complete required documentation.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with managers and colleagues.
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Basic computer operational skills; able to input and retrieve computerized information.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work with minimum supervision, adapt to a changing environment quickly, and think independently.
Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.
