What you will do:

Assist with cheese manufacturing and the cheese department cleaning processes. Perform HACCP monitoring duties for designated Critical Points (cream, milk, and vat pasteurization and metal detectors) as required per sub job categories. Maintain proper records, cleaning in place (CIP), and sanitizing procedures. Monitor and/or record operations in NAV and WonderWare systems.

Here's a day in the life:

Cheese Towers

  • Set up towers and sealers for production; operate towers and sealers throughout the production day and control blocks weights

  • CIP and sanitizing procedures; tower vacuum pump hook ups for production and CIP

Cheese Boxer

  • Set up and operate boxer for production; ensure the boxer runs properly throughout the production day

  • Ensure proper recipe, date and count is correct;

  • Clean boxer, boxer room and salt room

  • Fill and monitor the salt bins; perform hourly boxer and leaker and salt checks

  • Make milk silos changes when necessary

Cheese Cold Storage

  • Operation of the block cooler and palletizer, and operation and verification of the metal detector

  • Obtain proper sample blocks; use of ADC scan gun

Cheese Vats

  • Configure the vats, lines, cheddar master and salter for the production day

  • Start the milk flow and operate the cooking vats, cheddar master, salter, and clarifier

Cheese Process Operations

  • Start and run: the Milk HTST, the Separator, the Whey HTST, and the RO system

  • Perform Mid-Day Wash of the Milk HTST; document cleaning, CIP and sanitizing procedures

  • Maintain hourly readings and records; hourly testing of Milk components

Skills you'll need:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED is required. Previous food production or production/manufacturing experience desired.

Experience:

  • Must be computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word. Knowledge of ERP systems i.e. NAV is preferred.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors. Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company. Demonstrate a strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a food manufacturing plant environment. Must be able to be certified to operate a fork lift.

  • Must be able to stand full shift. Be physically able to regularly and frequently handle both 40 pound blocks of cheese and 40 pound bags of salt. Pre-work physical exam is required.

  • Must be able to work a varied schedule with rotating days off (including days and swing shifts -- or graveyard as needed), weekends and holidays.

Fulltime union position; $16.20- $18.00 per hour to start plus applicable shift differential pay.

What you will do: Assist in the production of ice cream including but not limited to; palletizing ice cream cartons, making mix, operating machinery and inspecting product to ensure quality. Here's a day in the life: * Inspect product and mix making * Equipment operation and monitoring: HACCP metal detector and pasteurization machinery * Production line set-up and tear down and palletizing ice cream cartons * NAV/Wonderware data-entry * Master Sanitation duties including cleaning, CIP and sanitizing procedures * Follow's flavor ingredient Bill of Materials and flavor ice cream base instructions Skills you'll need: Education and Experience: High school diploma is required. One to three years related manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Knowledge and experience with manufacturing sanitation practices also preferred. Basic knowledge of computer applications including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must be able to operate and data-entry in specialized databases. Ability to read and comprehend simple, short documented instructions and memos. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively and willingness to follow instructions and to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and with regulatory bodies. Must be able to multi-task and prioritize and be able to work independently. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety variables and/or ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute, rate, ratio, and percent from instructions. Licenses and/or Certifications: Must be able to obtain upon hire Forklift, Pallet Jack and Man Lift Certifications, and Pasteurization License. Physical Requirements: Pre-work physical exam is required. Duties may include repetitive motion of hands and lifting up to 60 pounds. Will work in freezer environment as low as -20 degrees on production floor or in a warehouse environment. Must be able to work with allergens i.e. nuts, eggs, milk, etc. Must be able to work various/rotating shifts and weekends.
