Cheese Manager

Our Yorktown Heights, NY store is seeking an experienced Cheese Manager for its busy store department. Our Cheese Managers are responsible for preparing, stocking, serving and merchandising cheese and related food products to our customers while maintaining our high standards of safety and sanitation. Responsibilities will include managing a department staff, training, coaching and hiring. This position requires thorough knowledge of all cheese products and services offered by Uncle Giuseppe's including product pairing and flavors.

Responsibilities

• Will be responsible for managing a staff of cheese clerks

• Supports a positive customer experience, providing guests with a unique, enthusiastic and informational experience

• Observes and supports all store rules and company policies, directing and coaching department employees

• Packs, labels and merchandises cheese and related items according to Uncle Giuseppe's policies.

• Maintains the entire work area in a clean and sanitary condition and follows all safety procedures.

• Other duties and functions as assigned

Requirements

• HS Diploma or equivalent

• A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in a busy cheese department, managing employees

• Must have excellent customer service skills with in depth knowledge of all types of cheeses, imported and local

• Highly organized and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities

Working Conditions

• Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.

• May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.

• Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.

• There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions.
