What you will do:

  • Receives consultation request, checking for special instructions. Pleasantly greets patients confirming their identification and introduces self.

  • Assists with and performs various industrial medical procedures, including but not limited to the following: health risk appraisals, vital signs, vision tests, hearing tests, dipstick urinalysis, phlebotomy, drug and alcohol tests and PFT's. Services may be provided in the clinic or at the worksite.

  • Prepares room, equipment, and materials as needed for patients. Prepares patient and explains procedure for X ray, phlebotomy and/or EKG.

  • Follows prescribed techniques in administrating general and specific X rays. Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences and records patient's condition, if indicated. Reports any equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.

  • Obtains blood from patients through venipuncture under generally accepted aseptic techniques, labels tubes correctly and delivers the specimens and requisitions to the Laboratory for testing.

  • Operates EKG machine and performs EKG, as appropriate. Reviews recordings on the tracing paper from each electrode position, and checks for clarity and for any gross deviation from the normal. Presents "abnormal" tracings to physician for review.

  • Maintains electrodiagnostic machines and equipment by cleaning and replacing electrodes, supplies and tracing paper.

  • Enters test requests in computer system as needed. Utilizes department software to schedule appointments, enter data, and retrieve necessary data.

  • Answers telephone and relays messages. Greets and directs patients and clients. Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Ensures adequate supply levels are maintained, checks inventory and prepares requisitions to replenish regular stock levels, submits special orders to the Manager.

  • Acts as the department resource for ordering supplies.

  • Knowledge of the needs of patients according to their age group and the ability to modify care according to patient's age. Will most frequently care for adults and geriatric patients; and on occasion, adolescents and children.

  • Assists with and performs imaging for adjacent Urgent Care as needed.

  • Transports patient if necessary.

  • Schedules testing, as necessary. Performs office procedures accurately in absence of clerical personnel. Performs all clerical functions when not performing technical procedures.

  • Cleans and disinfects X ray room and equipment.

  • Maintains stock supplies for assigned room or work area.

  • Uses lead shield to protect unaffected parts of patient's body from exposure to X ray.

  • Wears film badge at waist level.

  • Demonstrates service excellence and ACE.

  • Participates in department performance improvement activities as assigned and attends required training.

What you will need:

  • High School Graduate, or equivalent; Medical Assistant Certificate helpful. Previous Phlebotomy experience preferred.

  • Completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an approved school and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT). May be graduate technologist, but preferably a registered technologist.

  • NIOSH spirometry, audiology and BAT certification preferred. Must be willing to obtain certification within 12 months of employment.

  • Must be currently certified in CPR, and maintain certification.

  • Drug Screen Collector.

  • Ability to operate EKG machines, training will be provided.

  • Ability to perform blood pressure, pulse, respirations and temperature readings, preferred. Training provided if needed.

  • Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.

  • Ability to maintain a positive impression of the medical center at all times.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive telephone and face-to-face inquiries.

  • Ability to lift 75 pounds, and be mobile.

  • Ability to read and write small letters and numbers.

  • Ability to maintain neat and orderly files and records.

  • Ability to understand and communicate oral and written communication.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, co workers and patients.

  • Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.

  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of medical center emergency codes.

  • Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment. Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.

  • Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
