This is a Lead/Charge Nurse position at New Hanover Correctional Center in Wilmington, NC. New Hanover is a male, minimum custody facility.

This position provides professional nursing care/treatment to patients in accordance with medical protocols in a supervisory capacity. Work includes conducting needs assessments; developing, implementing and evaluating treatment plans; and providing patient care and education to inmates in a state correctional facility.

This position requires sick call assessments, medication administration, phlebotomy sticks, transcribing MD/PA orders, patient education, thorough medical documentation, monitoring/ treatment of communicable diseases, and responding to emergencies.

Individuals may be required to work any shift based on current needs of the institution, weekends and Holidays with limited clinical supervision. This position will be the Lead RN assigned to the evening shift however, any position is subject to work any shift based on the needs of the facility.

  • Documented knowledge in communicating information to patients and licensed staff related to treatment and patient care

  • Documented knowledge of professional nursing, techniques and practices

  • Documented knowledge of medications and carrying out prescribed treatments

  • Documented knowledge of maintaining records and reports

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and one year of nursing experience.

Candidates are nurses with excellent clinical and relationship building skills. Strong communication skills are a must. This position requires a RN license and previous experience in a clinical marketing role is preferred. Home infusion experience desired. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS * Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required, BSN preferred. Current Registered Nurse licensure in good standing in state of practice required. CPR certification is required. CRNI preferred. * A minimum of two (2) years current nursing experience in a clinical specialty involving infusion therapy is required, including patient assessment skills, venous access skills and emergency patient care, with at least one (1) year of home health experience. * Skilled in troubleshooting problems and have excellent customer service skills and demeanor * Prior Sales and Referral Development experience is preferred * Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record which meets company's standards and must have auto insurance in effect at all times.
