Is offered to experienced RN's with one (1) or more years of experience in Labor & Delivery.

New Grad RN, Per Diem or Registry RN's are not eligible.

Under the general direction of the L & D Director, the Charge Nurse is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients admitted for labor & delivery care. Will utilizes the nursing process in ensuring safe and competent quality patient care. The Charge Nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the mission and objectives of the hospital. The Charge Nurse provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient care team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. The Charge Nurse provides direction to the Registered Nurses and other licensed/unlicensed assistive personnel in providing patient care, in patients' assignments, in overseeing diverse operational processes, and coordinating staff's rest/meal breaks. The Charge Nurse must be able to assess own learning needs to enhance personal and professional development.

Assesses patient/family health problems and resources, takes a leadership role in the development, implementation and outcomes evaluation of a plan for nursing care provided by the nursing team. Provides technical nursing care and interventions to designated patient populations.

This position requires providing service to a one or more age populations including an ill neonate through

geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. Admission coordination, make nursing assignments, coordinate shift activities and quality control functions.

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least five (5) years acute care experience in L & D.

  • Previous experience as a charge nurse.

  • Graduate of a RN School of Nursing.

  • Current California RN License.

  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP card.

  • Advanced Fetal Monitoring certificate.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese (preferred).
