POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse in the Charge Nurse role is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care. The nurse in this role will be expected to fulfill the following skills, including but not limited to: provide competent, safe care for medical patients, such as diabetes and digestive disorders, hematology and acute disease processed in some cancer patients, renal, pre and post-operative surgical patient care needs, other disorders of the muscular/skeletal system, cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia interpretation and treatment, acute patient assessment and response, respiratory and cardiac disease processes, and teaching across multiple disease processes. The nurse assumes responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period.


  • Current licensure in (insert state where facility is located) as a Registered Nurse.

  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification within 30 days of hire

  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification within 90 days of hire

  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course and Certification within 90 days of hire

  • Minimum of six (6) months of clinical practice in the clinical specialty of his/her unit.

  • BSN Preferred.

The Medical Staff Coordinator (MSC) provides support to Cache Valley Hospital's Medical Staff. Responsible to coordinate medical staff department meetings and document minutes, prepare agendas, generate correspondence and reports, and conduct balloting for medical staff positions / elections. Also provides secretarial assistant and support to the President of the Medical Staff in administering the business of the Medical Staff through the clinical departments, committees and the membership at large. The MSC requires knowledge and the ability to work with various software programs most notably the Computer Assisted Credentialing Tracking Update System (CACTUS). This ensures that all Medical Staff Professionals are appropriately credentialed and privileged to practice at CVH. The MSC works with Administration to present practitioners to Medical Staff Leadership and the Board of Trustees for recommendation of privileges to CVH. This requires an understanding of Medical Staff privileges, when these practitioners are due for appointment and reappointment. A full knowledge of Medical Staff Bylaws, all associated Medical Staff Policies and Procedures, Rules & Regulations, policy and procedure development, and communication with all members of the medical staff and between the medical staff and hospital administration and hospital departments. The MSC will also work with the Medical Staff President over the CME to promote, provide and prepare for medical staff CME, as applicable. The MSC will also be responsible for the required annual Medical Staff Meeting; the annual medical staff meeting before the end of the Medical Staff year. The MSC will also endeavor to meet with a positive spirit any other essential needs of the job role that may not be written here but determined by the hospital administration.
