Description

Assures that overall patient care within the department is provided in a patient-centered, efficient, healing environment.

Have authority, responsibility and accountability to assure that:

  • the interdisciplinary team providing patient services within the department are meeting standards to achieve optimal patient outcomes within anticipated length of stay;

  • Departmental and organizational goals are met.

  • Unit patient flow is optimized.

  • Appropriate patient placement

  • Equipment availability and maintenance

Qualifications

Associate Degree RN's must enroll in an accredited Bachelors of Science (BSN) Completion Program within 90 days of your employment start date. You will have three years from your employment start date to complete your degree.

BLS, ACLS certification

PALS on Pediatric area

Prior Charge experience preferred

Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience

Successfully completed basic arrhythmia course or will successfully complete within 90 days of employment.

Ready to join our quest for better? Description The paramedic functions under the direction of the Emergency Nurse (RN) and Physician. The paramedic provides patient care within a defined scope of practice that includes patient care, monitoring and observation, specified treatments and procedures, provision of environmental and personal safety and effective communication. The paramedic will also be responsible to collect pertinent data within their certification scope of responsibilities and report these clinical findings to the RN and Physicians. Assists patient with basic care needs and any other duties related to the well-being of the patient following established nursing policies and procedures. Prioritizes patient care activities based on patient needs and unit activity under the direction of the Clinical Shift Coordinator and/or Relief Charge Nurse. Administers treatments and various procedures (within their scope of practice) to patients as ordered by the physician and directed by the Professional Nursing Staff included but not limited to the following: vital signs, orthostatic blood pressures; attaches cardiac monitor; obtains 12 lead ECG; identifies abnormal cardiac rhythms and life threatening arrhythmias, pulse oximetry, capnography; oxygen administration including nasal cannula, oxy mask, non rebreather mask; obtains finger stick blood sugar and specimen collections such as urine or stool or wound; wound care; sterile technique glove application and tray set up; aseptic technique and wound cleansing; wound dressings steri strips; tube gauze; dry gauze; telfa/adaptic; antibiotic ointment application; cold and sterile saline burn dressings assists with OB/GYN are; assists physician with exam; obtain visual acuity; eye care including eye irrigation and eye patch application; orthopedic are and applications including splints wraps immoblizers crutches; assists in code situations; phlebotomy; start and discontinue iVs; managing intravenous maintenance fluids; identifies changes in patient condition and notifies RN/Physician. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited paramedic program. Current EMT-P license without restrictions or EMT-B with at least two (2) years of Emergency Department experience ACLS certification preferred Northwestern Medicine Sandwich IL
