The Wound Care Charge Nurse is responsible and accountable for the coordination of clinical activities including but not limited to use of organizational skills, leadership, assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and providing patient care through the use of hospital and nursing standards in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and Hospital Standards of care. The incumbent performs services in accordance to the physician's order and policy and procedures within hospital and specific to this area of WOC Services.
The incumbent staff member also demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. He or she must be able to assess and interpret data about patient's status in order to identify each patient's needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the specific patient group.
Current and valid CA Registered Nurse license. Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Graduate from an Enterostomal Therapy Nurse Education Program/(WOC Program) preferred. Certified in Wound Ostomy Continence Care preferred. BLS on hire and maintain current. ACLS required within 3 months of hire. 2 years experience as a Wound Care Nurse and Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
