CHARGE REGISTERED NURSE CRITICAL CARE -SURGICAL ICU FULL TIME

The SURGICAL ICU RN Charge Critical Care Nurse supervises nursing service activities inassigned nursing unit for the duration of the assigned shift or in the absenceof nursing management. The task and responsibilities of this position include:

Participates actively inthe planning and distribution of patient assignments.

Evaluates theeffectiveness of care and addresses any issues that affect the desired patientoutcomes.

Supports nursing staffin communication with physicians to include accepting doctors' orders andcommunicating patient condition.

Facilitates the processof reporting patient status to the following shift of nursing personnel.

Manages the nursing careof assigned patients in accordance with established policies, procedures andprotocols of the healthcare organization.

Assesses plans andevaluates patient care needs.

Carries out physicianorders.

Administers prescribedmedications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.

Provides respiratory andventilator management and monitoring for patients.

Serves as the primarycoordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care.

Monitors, records andcommunicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerizeddocumentation systems.

Instructs and educatespatients and families.

Assesses and coordinatespatient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Provides age andculturally appropriate care.

Orients and mentors newstaff members.

Follows StandardPrecautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Required Job Qualifications include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Current NV RN license.

  • Current BLS and ACLS.

  • Current education in area of practice required.

  • Current education in Management/Leadership required.

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of acute care experience in an ICU setting.

  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 yr exp as a Charge RN in Adult ICU setting.

  • Must pass the National League of Nursing medication test with a score of 80%/higher.

The position also carries a patient load and applies the nursing process to deliver basic, safe, therapeutic care, for individuals or groups of patients in a Trauma Intensive Care Setting. Job Requirement Education/Experience: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and three (3) of RN Critical Care Experience. Licensing/Certification Requirements: Valid License by the Nevada State Board of Nursing to Practice as a Registered Nurse, and; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification;Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC)cetification;Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) certification.
