The SURGICAL ICU RN Charge Critical Care Nurse supervises nursing service activities inassigned nursing unit for the duration of the assigned shift or in the absenceof nursing management. The task and responsibilities of this position include:

Participates actively inthe planning and distribution of patient assignments.

Evaluates theeffectiveness of care and addresses any issues that affect the desired patientoutcomes.

Supports nursing staffin communication with physicians to include accepting doctors' orders andcommunicating patient condition.

Facilitates the processof reporting patient status to the following shift of nursing personnel.

Manages the nursing careof assigned patients in accordance with established policies, procedures andprotocols of the healthcare organization.

Assesses plans andevaluates patient care needs.

Carries out physicianorders.

Administers prescribedmedications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.

Provides respiratory andventilator management and monitoring for patients.

Serves as the primarycoordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care.

Monitors, records andcommunicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerizeddocumentation systems.

Instructs and educatespatients and families.

Assesses and coordinatespatient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Provides age andculturally appropriate care.

Orients and mentors newstaff members.

Follows StandardPrecautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Required Job Qualifications include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Current NV RN license.

  • Current BLS and ACLS.

  • Current education in area of practice required.

  • Current education in Management/Leadership required.

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of acute care experience in an ICU setting.

  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 yr exp as a Charge RN in Adult ICU setting.

  • Must pass the National League of Nursing medication test with a score of 80%/higher.

Position: ICU RN, Part-Time- Nights The RegisteredNurse Critical Care is a registered professional nurse who participates asan active member of the Nursing Team on the assigned unit/department. Theregistered nurse assumes responsibility for coordinating safe, efficient, andtherapeutically effective nursing care for patients on the assignedunit/department. Principle responsibilities include participating instrategic planning, service delivery, program development, evaluation andimplementation, budget and resource management, cost control, contract complianceand quality improvement. In addition, the registered nurse supportspatient safety initiatives and quality improvement activities. Typical Duties (including but not limited to:) * The registered nurse may also work as aregistered professional nurse in the capacity of Charge RN in addition to beinga clinical nurse providing care for patients for an assigned time. * The registered nurse maintains currentcompetency with nursing skills required for the assigned unit/department, anddemonstrates knowledge regarding Standards of Care and Standards of Practice inthe assigned area. * The registered nurse demonstrates knowledge ofprinciples of growth & development over life span, and possesses theability to assess data reflective of patient status, and to interpret the dataappropriately to identify patient requirements specific to the patient's age. * The registered nurse remains calm in crisis andemergency situations, and directs staff members as appropriate. * The registered nurse maintains professional andeffective working relationships with all members of the Health Care Team. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Graduate of anaccredited school of nursing required Bachelor's degreestrongly preferred EXPERIENCE: Appropriate to patientpopulation and level of care; minimum of two (2) years of Emergency Nursing inan acute care facility.
