Description:
The Charge Capture Specialist for the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is responsible for the daily auditing, reconciliation, and posting of supplies, implants, and related charges for all surgical procedures that occur at the ASC. The ASC is an 8 room hospital based ambulatory surgery center located on the Loyola University Medical Center campus. The ASC cares for peds/adult patients and provides a variety of service lines including general, optho, ortho, GU, gyne, ENT, etc.
Looking for a service representative to join our dynamic ASC Team. Candidate should have excellent customer service and posses basic computer functions well (answering phones, sending emails, chart creation).
Position is Monday - Friday 8:00 - 4:30pm. No weekends and no holidays.
35% SURGICAL CHARGE CAPTURE - Responsible for the daily auditing, reconciliation, and posting of supplies, implants, and related charges to ensure effective capture and monitor utilization within 24 hours of the date of service. Reconciliation activities include interfacing with nursing, materials management, supply chain, and vendors to validate usage and pricing accuracy. Works with Patient Financial Services to flag or hold incomplete claims as the reconciliation process is completed.
10% BILLABLE SUPPLIES - Identifies new billable supplies/implants and then facilitates the activation of service code (CDM), item number (Lawson), and charge entry (OpTime).
10% EDUCATION - To ensure compliance with billing, coding, and reimbursement guidelines, the charge capture specialist provides initial training and ongoing support to ASC Nursing Staff regarding the appropriate documentation of case events, supplies and implants.
10% REVENUE INTEGRITY - Manages, monitors and reports the daily revenue cycle activities of the department and reports anomalies to Perioperative Administration.
15% REPORTING - Through the oversight of the Perioperative Business Analyst, maintains perioperative databases (e.g. Strategic Sourcing Implant Database-SSID, OR Master Case Database, PACU Master Case Database, CVT Implant Report, OR-10 Report, etc.)
15% BUSINESS ANALYTICS - Through the oversight of the Perioperative Business Analyst, downloads data from Clarity Data Repository using SQL program to update, reconcile and generate weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reports pertaining to key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Case Volumes, Ontime Starts, Service Line Block Utilization, Turnover Time, Procedure Duration, etc.
5% BACKUP COVERAGE - Provides back up support for various areas within the ASC Front desk (Service Rep and Scheduling)
Minimum Education:
Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Associates Degree Specify Degree(s): N/A
Minimum Experience:
Required: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
Preferred: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
Skills - proficient use of Microsoft Office, average typing speed
