About the job:
Auditor - Charge Capture audits billed charges for accuracy and assists with resolving billing disputes.
What you'll do:
Conducts audits of charges as compared to clinical/medical record documentation
Assists with responding to patients' inquiries concerning the accuracy of billed charges and charge descriptions
Assists with resolving third-party payor inquiries and billing disputes
Provides summary reports and analysis to hospital staff and management as requested and required
Participates in and fosters a performance improvement approach that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities.
Participates in the orientation of new employees as assigned.
Responsible for compliance with Organizational Integrity through raising questions and promptly reporting actual or potential wrongdoing.
What we're looking for:
Minimum Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent. Specialized training in medical terminology and coding
Experience: 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience in a hospital environment in revenue cycle, billing, coding and/or patient financial services
Ability to perform basic charge capture processes and investigates errors accordingly.
Basic understanding of general Revenue Cycle principles.
Ability to understand billing & regulatory guidelines as related to charging and other revenue cycle processes.
Ability to adjust regulatory changes in a cooperative and efficient manner.
Works and communicates effectively and in a professional manner with management and their support staff throughout the entire organization, as well as with physicians, nurses, other clinical and revenue cycle associates.
