CHAPTER AREA LEADER - Fidelity Asset Management Fixed Income, FFO, and Trading Services (FIFT)
The Role
As the Chapter Area Leader for US Money Market, FFO and Trading Services Engineering, you blend deep application engineering knowledge with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing managers and associates. You will manage a team of Chapter Leaders guiding an organization of over 90 full-stack software engineers in the US developing the tools and systems in support of our product areas.
You bring expertise and experience in engineering, technical design, systems management, and leading impactful teams. You are driven to build extraordinary organizations with strong community. You understand how best to coordinate work, teams, and engineering solutions to deliver maximum value in pursuit of business capabilities.
In our Agile framework, you will ensure that prioritized work is delivered without compromising engineering excellence. You will lead a group of chapter members working within squads across multiple product areas.
You actively bring new ideas, approaches and insights to improve the work and develop new skills and capabilities in your area, enabling associate growth while adding greater value. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to bring the latest thinking to your role to share that knowledge with others.
Ensuring chapter area talent composition and workforce planning are clearly aligned to deliver value and results for prioritized work
Supporting, mentoring, developing and enabling your managers to build the environment allowing our squads to bring their very best work to bear on business challenges
Ensuring enterprise technology initiatives and lifecycle efforts are planned and incorporated into product area roadmaps and backlogs appropriately
Proactively partnering and negotiating with other technology leaders and key business partners to influence strategic decisions and priorities to address technology deficits and overall cost of ownership
Collaborating with our investment professionals to prioritize work, remove impediments, and bring value to Fidelity's customers through our efforts
Measuring performance through established measures to deliver agreed upon business, technology, and talent objectives
Supporting Chapter Leaders to ensure optimization of chapter member talent while defining and building learning opportunities connected to the strategic direction of the domain and product areas
Reinforcing consistency in and application of standards across chapters / squads, and with similar enterprise groups
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Minimum of 15 years of software engineering and development management experience
BS degree in Computer Science or related software engineer field or equivalent experience
Experience working in an Agile environment which emphasizes value prioritization and flexibility in capacity allocation
Experience in multiple layers of the technology stack including data, middle-tier, and front-end capabilities
You have strong communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization
Senior level experience leading, coaching, mentoring and developing people and teams
Experience identifying and acquiring strategic talent needs; and strategic resource planning and talent allocation across large organizations
The Team
The FIFT organization crafts all the technology systems used in Fixed Income for the Bond and Money Market Product areas. FIFT also handles common trading services as well as the systems used for Finance and Fund Oversight.
The applications and services provided enable investment decision making, portfolio management, and trading for combined assets under management of nearly $2 trillion. Through our Agile practices, we have developed an operating rhythm that ensures we are consistently delivering the highest value work for our customers and partners. We work on a wide variety of technologies including AWS, Angular, Java, Python, REST/API, PL/SQL, HTML and Kafka.

Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs.
