Job Overview:
The Staff Chaplain is responsible for the delivery of spiritual care to patients, their loved ones, and as hospital staff. The chaplain will have responsibility to ensure that religious and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones are met in areas to which they are assigned. The Staff Chaplain will report to the Director of Spiritual Care.
Qualifications:
Required:
Must be a Board Certified or BCC eligible Chaplain with any of the following organizations: Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains or the National Association of Jewish Chaplains
Completion of Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education
Master Degree in Theology/Divinity or Equivalent
Proficient in Windows based office software
Scheduling Requirements:
Day Shift
Rotating weekends and holidays may be required
Full-Time
Essential Functions:
Participate in delivering and arranging for appropriate spiritual care to patients, their loved ones and staff throughout the hospital
Actively participate in the delivery of spiritual care adhering to the departmental policies and standards of practice and ethics according to their board certifying organization
Respond to requests for spiritual care in a timely manner
Follow a triage response to emergency situations as well as referrals and consults
Proactively round on assigned units, performing spiritual assessments and interventions
Educate and execute Advance Care planning documentation with patients
Documents all patient visits in Epic according to department procedure
Support an interdisciplinary approach to spiritual care
Participate in team meetings and interdisciplinary rounds
Serve on institutional committees as appointed
Promote a team-centered approach to spiritual care among all chaplains, students and volunteers in the department
Serve as a clinical preceptor to help mentor clinical pastoral education students
Provide educational opportunities about elements of spiritual care to students and staff as requested
