One unit of CPE is preferred but not required. The application fee of $25 must accompany the application.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Chaplain Resident, under supervision of CPE educator and manager, provides spiritual care to patients, families and staff of Harris Health System.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An individual who, through a written application and admissions interview, has demonstrated the ability to participate in an ACPE certified CPE Program.

  • One who has successfully completed at least one year of theological school or 72 academic hours of accredited theological education.

  • Other requirements or education and experience as a specific ACPE Center may be required. Experience working with diverse populations or religious institutions. One previous CPE unit preferred; not required

  • Equipment Operated: computer, telephone, pager.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1.Communication Skills:

Above Average Verbal (Heavy Public Contact)

Exceptional Verbal (e.g., Public Speaking)

Bilingual Skills Preferred

Writing /Composing (Correspondence / Reports)

2.Other Skills:

Analytical, Medical Terms Statistical Computer Proficiency: MS Word MS Excel

3.Work Schedule: Weekends Flexible Overtime Travel On Call
