The Chaplain directs all activities involving chaplain contribution. Works with all hospital departments and personnel to provide spiritual guidance and support during illness, injury and/or emergency to patients, family members, visitors, hospital staff, and physicians.

Provides leadership and counseling to employees as requested. Formulates programs and policies to meet the spiritual needs of the organization. Employee will recognize the population specific needs of the patients and apply the appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviors to meet those needs when performing patient activities.


  • Bachelor's degree and a Master's of Divinity from an accredited theological seminary required

  • Membership on American Association of Pastoral Counselors or Association of Clinical Pastoral Education required

  • Healthcare endorsement from ordaining denomination required

  • 2 years experience in Pastoral care work preferred

  • Faith based counselor and training certification

  • Victim's Chaplainry Training

  • Theological background training with Clinical Pastoral education related to medical/ethical issues, spiritual and grief counseling.

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth is located at 6100 Harris Parkway, Fort Worth, TX 76132. Salary rate is $22.85/hour - PRN Rate Work Schedule: * PRN - As needed * Primary hours needing coverage will be evenings, overnights, and weekends with occasionally coverage needed during the week. * Requires the ability to arrive at Texas Health Southwest within 30 minutes of being called in Job Description: The PRN Chaplain role is designed to support Texas Health departments of Pastoral Care to provide 24/7 support to patients, guests, and staff. PRNs are usually scheduled for evening and weekend shifts and to fill occasional staffing gaps at varies entity locations. Essential Functions: * Provide pastoral and spiritual care to patients, guests, and staff when needs arise, primarily after weekday work hours and on the weekend. * Respond to referrals for patient care, assess spiritual resources and vulnerabilities, provide pastoral interventions, and professionally document care in the patient medical record as part of the interdisciplinary team care. Provide hand-off to Pastoral Care team members as needed. * Provide on-call report when called into hospital; complete quarterly Check-Ins; report payroll exceptions promptly. * Ability to respond to call-ins within 10 minutes and arrive within 30 minutes. * Complete required Employee Health requirements and MyTalent modules in a timely manner. Adhere to all HIPAA rules and regulations. Familiar and adherence to all safety standards. * Attend meetings when scheduled and stay up to date on hospital standards and processes. PRNs are encouraged to attend entity Attending Clergy Association meetings, if applicable, or other community-clergy gatherings. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree Required * Master of Divinity, Theology, or related degree from an accredited theological school preferred * One unit of CPE from an ACPE Accredited center required * Two years' experience in pastoral care or congregational setting preferred Skills: * Good communication skills, both written and oral. Competency in basic computer use and electronic communication tools, e.g., email, calendar. * Ability to work with and relate to people of all faith traditions and cultural backgrounds. * Ability to offer non-anxious presence and work with people during a time of crisis and bereavement, offering compassionate care. * Proficiently document patient care in the medical record within one year of employment, and demonstrate this proficiency. * Ability to offer religious and spiritual rituals as requested by patients and/or staff. When appropriate, ability to refer to outside clergy to meet patient sacramental or religious rites needs. * Must be able to work a flexible work schedule that supports varies entities/locations based upon patient volumes and operational needs Why Texas Health Resources?
