Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking a Channel and Business Development Leader to expand the presence of GP's Household Care category. The role is based in Atlanta, GA.
Reporting to the Category VP/GM, this candidate will play an active role in shaping the long-term category expansion strategy, building distribution of new brands and leading our external partnership/acquisition strategy.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Channel Expansion: Comprehensive analysis, recommendation and selling of new brands into non-tradition and traditional retail channels, including brick and mortar and e-comm channels.
Point-of-View Development: Work with Category Brand Directors in understanding consumer needs, competitive landscape, market structures and retailer's view of the category, technologies, sourcing and supply chain, and unit economics.
Brand/Business Strategy: Assist in the development of new business objectives, go-to-market strategies, and key measures of success; incorporating customer/sales and shopper insights to frame key initiatives. Drive alignment with capability leaders across the organization to get resources & investment support.
Business Development: Define external business partnership and acquisition strategy. Identify opportunities that are aligned with category objectives. Work with corporate strategic business development team, when appropriate, to further external discussions as opportunities arise.
P&L Ownership: Develop and own certain aspects of the P&L for new brands and businesses: work with supply chain and R&D to optimize cost and eliminate waste and working with finance and customer planning to provide thought leadership in investments across tactics (e.g. advertising vs pricing/trade) depending on evolving business situation.
Business Management & Tracking: Track in-market performance of own and competitors' products: key brand metrics like: household penetration, trial, repeat, brand premium loyalty.
Marketing: Partner with Brand Acceleration team in the development of breakthrough advertising, media plans, and package & design to improve brand performance and support the launch of new product innovation.
Innovation Pipeline: Work with Brand Directors in the development of our new business innovation pipeline (product, packaging, and commercial ideas) to address and capitalize on consumers unmet needs and market trends, aligning with GP's strategies and capabilities.
Market Experiments: Design and execute rapid market experiments (i.e. channel expansion, marketing tactics, claims) in a nimble and entrepreneurial way - leading the project from start to finish - to build knowledge that can then be applied to base business or other innovations across GP.
Consumer Research: Partner with Consumer Knowledge team to design and execute research and market experiments through traditional and non-traditional approaches - to gain critical knowledge, answer killer questions, and mitigate risk to maximize the long-term success and value of innovation.
What You Will Need:
Bachelor's degree or higher.
At least 5 years of experience in Consumer Packaged Goods or related industry.
Product innovation and/or commercialization experience.
Experience working in entrepreneurial environments.
Strong sales experience; either direct or indirect customer/account management experience.
What Will Put You Ahead?
MBA or other advanced degree.
Experience launching new brands or expanding existing brands into adjacent categories.
Prior experience in household cleaning retail categories (i.e. laundry, home cleaners, dish cleaning).
Ability to think strategically and objectively to grow business.
Strong financial acumen, including working knowledge of a business/product P&L.
Ability to creatively find solutions to business questions and issues with a sense of urgency.
Solid presentation and written/verbal communications skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects to completion.
Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative / team based style.
Ability to give & receive challenge, and to influence and gain support from peers and senior leaders
