Change is Collective Strategic Initiatives

To ensure program success, TCB conducts rigorous, ongoing program evaluation as well as best-practice research projects, and applies the findings to current programmatic practices and strategic growth plans. The Strategic Initiatives VISTA will work directly with TCB's senior leadership to examine potential growth strategies, and develop concrete plans for incubating growth - including articulating program models, identifying funding prospects, and defining implementation phases and steps.

Specific projects include: Mapping the high school landscape

• The VISTA will assess and understand the needs of graduating high school seniors in our region, and prepare reports and recommendations that allow TCB to work to ensure they transition to post-secondary education and/or career pathways following graduation. Mapping employer and industry landscape

• The VISTA will describe the current employment landscape in Memphis, with an emphasis on high-quality entry-level positions that lead to long-term sustainable career pathways. The VISTA will also research industry trends and make recommendations for future job opportunities in Memphis, and create tools / materials that could be used with employers.
  
  The VISTA will describe the current funding landscape for programming, focused on connecting young adults to training and employment. The VISTA will find and describe examples at the state and county level of funding mechanisms from other parts of the country, with an emphasis on success stories. The VISTA in the strategic initiatives role will join our Systems Change VISTA who works on systemic causes of inequity and disparity, and our Recruitment & Admissions VISTA, who helps develop and implement improved strategies for reaching more young adults in Memphis and matching them with the TCB programs that can put them on a path to long term career pathways and economic mobility. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps VISTA will develop strategic growth plans for the organization (as outlined above) under the direction of the CEO and Vice Presidents. Areas of focus will position TCB to begin implementation of strategic growth action plans over a defined period of time.
