POSITION: Chair/Director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT)

DEPARTMENT: Physical Therapy - College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences

STATUS: Full Time (12-Month appointment tenure track, associate or full professor)

Position Summary:

Campbell University invites applications for Chair/Director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT) housed in the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. The Chair/Director is responsible for maintaining accreditation and required reporting to the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), recruiting and developing faculty, overseeing curricular development and clinical rotations, all in collaboration with departmental faculty and college administration. The Chair/Director will have oversight of departmental budget, scheduling of classes and departmental activities, maintaining communication, and interdepartmental collaborations. The Chair/Director will support the department through didactic instruction where reasonable.

Requirements | Qualifications

  • The Chair/Director must hold an earned academic doctoral degree as defined by CAPTE (i.e., PhD, EdD, ScD).

  • Candidates must hold current licensure as a physical therapist in North Carolina or be eligible for licensure and is expected to have a record appropriate for the rank of tenure track, associate or full professor.

  • The Chair/Director must have a minimum of six years of full-time higher education experience, with a minimum of three years of full-time experience in a physical therapist education program.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft word, outlook, excel, powerpoint and the internet

Candidates must have doctoral preparation and completed an academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or ScD); ABD candidates will be considered. Areas of preferred teaching experience in integumentary, administration/management, women's health, and/or acute care. Rank appointment based on applicant qualifications and experience. The program is housed within the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (CPHS) on the health sciences campus. State of the art facilities provide excellent resources for faculty to carry out the program philosophy and mission. Multiple hi and low fidelity simulation areas and simulated patients are available along with OSCE suites and software for quality reflective learning experiences. Interprofessional teaching and learning is recognized and readily available with multiple programs on both the health science campus and main campus (osteopathic medicine, physician assistant, nursing, public health, engineering, and pharmacy). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Prepare and present materials in areas of assigned teaching that meet course objectives * Assess student competence within courses * Be an active member on assigned committees and department meetings * Advise students * Demonstrate and/or develop and carry out a defined scholarly agenda * Be active in service (e.g. community, university, and profession) * Participate in assessment of the program, college, and university, as assigned * Identify and develop adjunct teachers that assist in laboratory experiences and guest speaking * Participate in patient care and program pro bono clinical services * Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. * Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, and FERPA guidelines. * Other job related duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
