Job Description:

The College of Science at The University of Texas at El Paso is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Earth, Environmental and Resource Sciences. The Chair will join a multidisciplinary, collaborative, growing department with research activities spanning diverse areas of earth and environmental sciences.

The successful candidate is expected to be an active researcher with a strong vision for developing and strengthening research and teaching initiatives. Applicants must have an outstanding record of accomplishment in research productivity as demonstrated by extramural funding, publications, mentoring of faculty and students, and program and personnel management. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment serving UTEP's mission of access and excellence as a premier Hispanic Serving Institution.

Requirements:

  • PhD in a discipline appropriate for the Department of Earth, Environmental and Resource Sciences

  • Current academic rank of tenured associate or full professor (or equivalent rank)

  • Demonstrated leadership skills

  • Excellent record of program, people, and financial management

  • Outstanding record of research and teaching

  • Commitment to the core values of collaboration, innovation, and equity
