The Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine is announcing the search for a Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a visionary leader to provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the Department, including education, research, and clinical care.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology aims to provide outstanding patient care, community and global outreach, educational excellence for the next generation of OBGYN physicians, and innovative research to advance the full spectrum of obstetric and gynecologic care. As the sole academic practice in the state offering subspecialty services in Gynecology Oncology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM), Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS), Complex Family Planning, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, and Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, the Department is at the forefront of advancing the full spectrum of obstetric and gynecologic care.

The Department was founded in 1946 and has a rich history of training medical students, residents, and fellows. Faculty investigators in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology conduct collaborative research across a broad spectrum of women's health issues. Investigators have been awarded numerous highly competitive grants from a variety of funding agencies with a $6M average for the last two years; and have published results from these various projects in several high impact peer-reviewed journals (two-years' total: 204).

IU School of Medicine is the only allopathic medical school in the state and the largest medical school in the country. With 25,000 living alumni and 3,000 learners across nine campuses in the state, our institution is committed to shaping the future of healthcare.

Basic Qualifications

The successful candidate for this position will play a crucial role in advancing the health care of women in the State of Indiana and further impacting the quality of women's health care both nationally and abroad. This position is ideal for a collaborative and transformational leader who can build on existing strengths in the department and has the vision to expand research and education through new programs aligned with the Department's mission statement.

A doctorate or terminal degree is required. Minimum qualifications include an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent. Academic appointment type is open and will be determined based on academic credentials. The individual selected for this position must be a leader with exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills and demonstrate a strong commitment to upholding our core values, including promoting health equity and wellbeing.
