PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

As a member of the Claremont Graduate University's Digital Learning Team, you will coordinate digital learning projects while supporting staff, faculty, and students across physical and virtual environments. You will have the opportunity to support the full CGU community, including the physical campus in beautiful Claremont, California, and the emerging CGU digital campus online. As the Digital Learning Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the institution in service of high-quality digital learning experiences while wearing many hats and working in a rapidly-evolving digital environment.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Preparing term sites in the Canvas LMS for courses across the university and extension programs.

  • Consulting with faculty to determine best practices for digital learning in their programs and courses.

  • Applying Universal Design standards and ethical, legal, compliant practices to new and existing online curriculum shells.

  • Reviewing online curriculum for quality, functionality, and standards set forth by the university's academic leadership.

  • Preparing reports for various internal and external stakeholders.

  • Maintaining digital learning style guides, templates, and resources for academic and extension programs across CGU.

  • Supporting recording studio, classroom technology, and a variety of other technological tasks aimed at supporting our campus in the integration of meaningful technology.

  • Providing excellent technical support and customer service.

  • Reviewing and assigning Academic Computing tickets through ZenDesk.

  • Coordinating instructional design projects from initial request/approval through completion.

  • Executing new and existing standard operating procedures, consulting with leadership as systems and priorities evolve.

  • Partnering with colleagues in strategic planning and development projects.

  • Developing and conducting faculty, staff and student trainings, providing them orientations and professional development related to topics like multimedia applications.

  • Participating in committees, workgroups, task forces, and ad hoc groups as needed.

  • Supporting staff and faculty in the implementation of special projects.

  • Other tasks and projects as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  • Expertise in Canvas LMS required and expertise in Canvas Studio, and Canvas Catalog optional

  • Strong working knowledge of Zoom, Microsoft O365 Suite, and ZenDesk (or similar ticketing system)

  • Experience with WSCUC Accreditation Standards, specifically Distance Education

  • Knowledge of ADA Compliance for online course design

  • Knowledge of copyright compliance and fair use exceptions

  • Experience in higher education instruction, particularly distance education (online)

  • Experience in project management, curriculum coordination, and asset management

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Project Management, Education, Information Technology, or other applicable field

  • Master's or terminal degree preferred.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated experience in university program management, instructional services, quality assurance, assessment, and/or compliance

  • Two or more years' experience in teaching or training through online distance education

LICENSES / CERTIFICATES:

  • Prefer candidates with current certificates in the areas of:

  • QM/OLC Quality Assurance

  • FERPA (for universities)

  • Universal Design/ADA/Accessibility

  • Copyright and Fair Use

HOURS:

  • This is a full-time position located on site in Claremont, California

  • Monday

  • Friday, 8:30 am

  • 5:00 pm

  • This position may be eligible for CGU Flex-time, though core hours of 9:00 am
  • 4:00 pm must be maintained in accordance with university policy.
  • This position may be eligible for CGU Telecommuting for up to two days per week in accordance with university policy.

  • Occasional work outside of typical office hours may be required.
