Job Description:

Responsible for all duties and functions related to running the school library daily.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district positively.

Establish and maintain an orderly learning environment in which students actively participate.

Check books in and out.

Shelve and repair books. Maintain shelves to ensure books are correctly placed according to category and level.

Assist students in finding books appropriate for their reading level.

Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district's curriculum program requirements.

Catalog and label new books as they arrive.

Update computerized library files when students enroll, drop, or change classes.

Assist teachers in finding books related to a specific study or project topic.

Integrate technology into instruction.

Maintain media room materials, i.e., videos, read-along books with tapes, etc.

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Participate in professional development activities to improve job-related skills.

Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for school librarians.

Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other required documents.

Conduct year-end inventory.

Assume responsibility for assigned non-teaching duties.

Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

Valid Arkansas Teaching Certificate; Bachelor's Degree; Arkansas Certification in Library/Media at the appropriate grade level.
