This Case Aide position supports the Eastern Service Area CFS Initial Assessment team. This position supports entering the safety plan/documentation to ensure safety plans are entered on time, completion of cases in timely transfer for ongoing court and non court case management, assists with case closure duties to address IA backlog cases as well as ensuring timely placement documentation of state wards as required by statute. This position also conducts background checks daily for relative/kinship placements as well as safety plan participants.

Examples of Work

This is an office services assignment with a casework unit, to help support the local CPS division. Duties include providing paraprofessional/clerical support for casework staff via computer systems inquiry and input, preparing and sending appointment and related letters, assisting casework staff with researching specific situations/circumstances, opening CFS cases in NFOCUS/assigning CFSS workers, maintaining Excel spreadsheets as to caseload distributions and other information, processing incoming and outgoing unit mail, handling records transfer, ordering office supplies, basic maintenance of office equipment (replacing toner, paper, etc.), and receptionist coverage. Will assist with filing and client records maintenance, and may help with client transportation.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training or experience in public contact, customer service, working in a human services setting, using computer systems or office applications or performing office/secretarial support functions.

PREFERRED: Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and NFOCUS; Internal and external customer service experience.

OTHER: Valid Drivers license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must be highly organized, detail oriented and able to perform repetitive work in a high-volume, fast paced work environment. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures; computer office applications, systems and programs. Ability to: communicate with clients/applicants by phone and in person; interact with clients and staff; maintain records and files; work in a fast paced environment.

Coordinates inmate treatment plans to ensure timely follow-up on programs enrolled in and proper referral to needed programs and diagnostic assessment including self betterment, chemical dependency, mental health, medical, academic and vocational, or special referrals. Counsel inmates, including crisis intervention, to assist them in adapting to the prison environment; solving problems; filing grievances; and planning for treatment changes, furloughs, and parole. Directs compliance with all administrative regulations, operational memorandums, post orders, State statutes, and agency policies and procedures to maintain prison order and effective prison operation. Facilitates Cognitive Behavioral Intervention (CBI) programs for assigned inmate population. Qualifications / Requirements REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral sciences, human services or related field OR Associate's degree in criminal justice, behavioral sciences, human services or related field plus two years of corrections experience; OR four years of corrections experience. Must be at least 18 years of age. No felony or domestic abuse related convictions. OTHER: Candidates will be required to successfully complete CBI facilitator training and instruct CBI, Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), and Thinking for a Change (T4C) programs. Valid driver's license. Transcripts required prior to appointment. Writing assessment may be conducted at the time of interview.
