Scope of Position: Ensures entity compliance with local regulations, GAAP accounting principles, and Corning policies and procedures. Leads plant closing process and ensures reporting is timely and accurate. Responsible for review of reconciliations and the analysis of expenses to ensure financial accuracy. Complete monthly and annual plant forecasting and long-term analysis. Key resource for plant personnel on all plant financial metrics and how operations impact results. Responsible for driving financial results and ensuring all financial compliance and accuracy.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Lead the finance function, and be a key member and decision maker of the management staff

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting activities, including fixed asset management, inventory valuation, product costing, period reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and overall asset and liability control

  • Analyze and report on key plant operational and accounting metrics.

  • Present plant financial performance to individuals and groups at all levels and departments.

  • Proactively utilize business partnership skills to move the plant to better cost understanding and higher profitability

  • Implement and ensure business adherence to internal finance controls including data and reporting standards and compliance (Sarbanes Oxley regulations and external audits)

  • Provide finance expertise and decision support to business leaders in support of the division strategy

  • Identify and assess the financial implications (ROI, IRR & Payback) of capital investments.

  • Drive process improvement initiatives and support engineering in identifying and calculating Cost Reduction opportunities for various projects / initiatives

  • Actively participate in the development of the site's total safety culture

  • Drive process improvement within finance function: document existing processes (SOP's) and seek improvement opportunities to reduce complexity

  • Fundamental understanding on plant / product costs

  • Ability to take on various ad-hoc responsibilities as required

  • Source, select, and develop talent to support global and entity Finance talent needs

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (4 years) in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

  • MBA and/or CPA preferred

  • 8-10 years of relevant experience; preferable Manufacturing/Cost Accounting experience

  • Controller experience (within or outside Corning) desired

  • Proven knowledge of US GAAP

Required Skills:

  • Proven knowledge of financial and management accounting, including systems, compliance and reporting requirements (US GAAP, SOX)

  • Inventory control and management

  • Capital Investment Management

  • Manufacturing variance analysis and reporting

  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Adept at interacting and communicating with all aspects of the business, including US and international managers

  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Powerpoint)

Travel: Requires 50% travel and 50% time in Corning

Corning's Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world. Role Purpose: Manage the end-to-end plant supply chain (supplier to internal/external customer) to enable sustainable competitive advantage. Enable and execute division and global supply chain strategies aligned with business strategy at the DN and EJ plants. Drive synergies between the plants in the areas of production plans for effective manufacturing performance, inventory and customer service, logistics, procurement, and storeroom management. As a key member of the division supply chain staff and both plant staffs, lead a team that proactively engages with cross-functional teams (operations, division planning, commercial, technology, GSM) to meet business needs, improve customer satisfaction and supply chain performance. Primary areas of responsibility include: * Supply Chain planning & scheduling (order promising, supply planning and production scheduling) * Inventory/materials management including Storeroom and RM's * Procurement * Logistics Process (warehouse and transportation strategies and effectiveness) Key Responsibilities: * Leader on plant staff(s) to evaluate and execute Corporate, Division and Plant level supply chain process and systems to enhance supply chain effectiveness between suppliers, customers, and Corning. * Recruit and develop Supply Chain staff to enable them to achieve their full potential while achieving personal, department, and plant objectives and initiatives. * Create lean, end-to-end supply chains to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment of orders to customers in the most cost-efficient way. * Identify and drive cost reduction opportunities as it relates to Supply Chain. * Align plant supply capabilities with customer requirements. * Work with manufacturing and/or engineering teams to ensure product quality, cost and delivery performance. * Collaborate with product development teams, division planning, and plant operations to successfully deliver new products. * Insure all regulatory and compliance measures are met within global guidelines and local regulations. * Communicate service disruptions and quantify customer impact. * Develop short-term supply chain operations plans consistent with long-term objectives. * Track, communicate, and support key metrics to achieve plant and product team objectives. * Create and execute the budget for plant supply chain. * Proactively ensure a safe workplace by actively participating in the development of plant total safety culture. Lead and support safety improvement efforts in the plant.
