Job Summary:

Provides training and education in the CESI Paramedic program; from lecturing course content, to teaching skills, to overseeing clinical observations and ride time observations.

Job Responsibilities:
1.Prepares paramedic instructional areas, i.e., classrooms, task trainers, and other equipment and material required for program.
2.Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining student records and course documentation.
3.Assist faculty to teach Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic curriculum to students. Assists course faculty with set up and cleanup of supplies and equipment.
4.Instruct and evaluate student psychomotor skills in the areas of skill acquisition, reinforcement and mastery in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Advanced Life Support education programs, provide simulation activities, tutoring, and remedial assistance to students, provide feedback to course EMS I regarding skills practice processes and curriculum, attend meetings and required training, participate in ongoing professional development activities, work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse educational environment, utilize high levels of energy, creativity, and motivation to foster learning, demonstrate current knowledge of EMS Basic Life Support education standards, scope of practice and local protocols, adhere to National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
5.Responsible for identifying when supplies for each program need to be ordered.
6.Maintains thorough knowledge of each program and remains current in changes to requirements.
7.Conducts self in a manner that represents HHC's Values at all times.

  • High School diploma or GED. Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • Minimum 3 (5) years experience as EMS Provider and in training healthcare professionals.

  • CT or National Registry EMT Paramedic Certification

  • English; Excellent verbal, written and personal communication skills

  • Organizational skills set

  • Interpersonal skills

  • Technical skills

  • Flexibility

  • Ability to inspire others

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) is required

  • May require evenings and or weekend shifts

The Fitness Specialist develops, coordinates and teaches fitness/exercise programs and events established for the customers and the community. Serves as a personal trainer by assessing and establishing individualized training programs for customers. Reports to the Fitness Center Manager. * Bachelor's degree required. * Bachelor of Science in one of the following areas preferred: Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Athletic Training, Recreation and Leisure, Kinesiology, Recreation Management, Health Promotion, Movement and Sport Studies, Health Administration or Sports Management. * Previous related experience preferred. * Required Certifications: Standard First Aid, CPR - for the professional rescuer and personal training certification from one of the following organizations: ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine), NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association), AFAA (Aerobic Fitness Association of America), ACE (American Council of Exercise), NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) or NATA (National Athletic Training Association). * Recommended Certifications in one or more of the following: Aerobics, Step Aerobics, Water Aerobics, Kick Boxing, Senior Fitness Instructor, Theraball, Pilates, Yoga, Tai Chi, Self Defense, Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or any other type of exercise. * Strong verbal and written communication skills required. * Demonstrated internships with accumulated hours and previous experience in fitness/exercise programs required. Physical requirements for the Fitness Specialist position: * Push and/or lift up to 75# (dumbbells) * Lead exercise classes including: physioball training, ab training, free weights (3-10#), plyometric training, speed training, aerobics, balance training, etc. * Personal Training of members - spotting of free weights * Vacuum and mop floors PRN * Clean Exercise Equipment * Proper mechanics for lifting * Move cardiovascular exercise equipment when cleaning floors We take great care of careers.
