General Function Of This Career Pathway Instructor Position

Instructor will empower students through hands-on work-based learning opportunities and faith-based character education. Instructor will work with a team of students teaching basic manufacturing and logistics skills, through hands-on learning, to prepare them for a pre-apprenticeship at a local business partner. Instructor will uphold industry standard practices which will provide students the opportunity to advance through the Crossing LEVEL SYSTEM to gain soft and hard skills. Instructor may work with business partners to learn the required jobs in order to teach students to uphold appropriate standards and prepare them for the environment.

Instructor will be responsible for upholding Crossing standards through behavior management and character education which prioritizes relationship building through a faith-based approach.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma Required. Bachelor's Degree preferred

• Certified Teaching License

• Valid Workplace Specialist Certification in CTE subject of assignment preferred

• 3-5 Manufacturing or business administration experience preferred.

• Preferred 2-3 years instructional/teaching experience preferred.

• Organizational leadership, business development/management, and/or project management a plus

• Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse audience, including colleagues, staff, parents, community, public school personnel, community officers

• Experience with at-risk youth preferred

• Highly organized, adaptive, and able to problem-solve

• Strong organizational skills and ability to independently manage multiple time-sensitive projects

Responsibilities/Functions1. Demonstrate strong commitment to the Crossing's mission, strategic plan, and students.

Supports strategic plan initiatives in the areas of funding, full-day programming, students served, and the Indiana Department of Education compliance.

• Models effective leadership consistent with the Crossing's Professional Growth Model Structure.

• Quickly responds to feedback and organization-wide strategic plan initiatives.

• Ensures all locations operate in a safe and orderly manner.2. Ensure that proper curriculum, credits, and certificates are taught and earned within the context of Indiana Graduation Pathways.

Ensures that students of record are progressing towards on-time high school graduation.

• Collaborates with parents, students, public school personnel, special education staff, and administration to establish and implement a plan for each student's academic coursework, and regularly monitor progress.

• Frequently communicates each student's academic and WBL plan with students, parents, and community stakeholders regarding student's short- and term goals, progress towards goals, and obstacles to achievement of goals.

• Proactively identify and troubleshoot obstacles to graduation.

• Create and maintain academic records (attendance, behavior logs, grades).

• Participate in Family Nights and Campus Activities a minimum of once a semester.

Work with Campus Team to meet student placement and participation goals.

• Ensure students have meaningful job experiences and hands-on job training opportunities.

• Ensure campus follows the organization's Best Practices in establishing a well-defined operation model

• Develop programs to sustain student placement in WBL for assigned campuses.

• Develop and maintain relationships with potential businesses who will host WBL Experiences for students.

• Work with Human Resources to understand the Department of Labor guidelines for all student workers.

• Provide and place graduating students in job placement opportunities at non-poverty wages.

Form positive relationships with students and advocates for students when needed.

• Regularly interacts with and actively listens to students to learn about their stories, challenges, and motivations.

• Regularly and appropriately engages students after school hours.

• Holds students accountable for their behavior, and implements appropriate discipline.

Ensures that students of record receive high-quality faith-based character education.

• Leads Family Time, God Talk, spiritual retreats as dictated by campus need.

• Models the Crossing's core values in daily life.

• Volunteer time in Extended Learning Opportunities as well as Spiritual Retreats and Prom (if applicable) throughout the year (may be on weekends/after hours and possible overnights).

About Us

The Crossing School of Business & Entrepreneurship is a faith-based, state-accredited High School in the State of Indiana that offers academics, job training and faith-based character education for students who haven't been successful in the traditional High School setting and/or are seeking to receive essential job training skills.

Student academics are modeled to fit the needs of each student through a self-paced curriculum and by maintaining a balance of certified teachers and professionals from a variety of backgrounds.

Student job training is received through partnerships with local businesses, School Based Enterprises and student-run micro businesses under the direction and supervision of our Job Training Instructors.

Faith-Based Character education is provided through daily Family Time, quarterly Family Nights, regular Student Engagement and weekly God Talk.
