Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.

Hand required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery. Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients. Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.

Requirements Licensure / Certification / Registration: BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Education: High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Technical degree required. VIEW JOBS 11/4/2022 12:00:00 AM 2023-02-02T00:00 <p>Under general supervision, the Surgical Technologist will assist with surgical procedures by anticipating physician needs to ensure procedures are executed as smoothly and efficiently as possible. They will prepare and organize the operating room, clean and sterilize equipment and maintain a clean and sterile environment.</p><p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Perform job in accordance with Company Mission, vision, and goals.</p></li><li><p>Assists in bringing patients to pre-op, recovery and transporting for discharge.</p></li><li><p>Assists patients with medical forms, as necessary.</p></li><li><p>Exercise confidentiality in all areas, abiding by HIPAA rules and regulations.</p></li><li><p>Accurately completes applicable paperwork; ensuring patient medical records are complete. Prepares all forms and requisitions as instructed by the provider.</p></li><li><p>Returns patient calls in a timely manner.</p></li><li><p>Creates and maintains a positive atmosphere of customer service, teamwork, mutual respect, professionalism and accountability.</p></li><li><p>Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit, and confirming patient ID.</p></li><li><p>Sets up the sterile field on the Mayo stand with instruments, supplies, medications and equipment needed for procedures.</p></li><li><p>Performs initial instrument, sharps and sponge counts with the circulator.</p></li><li><p>Ensures team members, patient and procedure suite are maintaining sterile field.</p></li><li><p>Participates in the surgical site and patient verification during the time out procedure.</p></li><li><p>Assists physicians with surgical scrubs and personal protective equipment (PPE).</p></li><li><p>Prepares and anticipates additional instrumentation, equipment and supplies for usage during the procedure. Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedure</p></li><li><p>Maintains and improves current skills and knowledge by attending all relevant meetings, classes, trainings and by keeping certifications current.</p></li><li><p>Measures, passes and holds medications, hemostatic agents, instruments and irrigation solutions utilized during the surgical procedure.</p></li><li><p>Performs surgical support tasks as directed by the surgeon.</p></li><li><p>Coordinates the camera or changes out robotic arms/instruments during endoscopic surgery as directed by the surgeon.</p></li><li><p>Adheres to Infection Control, Safety and OSHA standards as specified by State, and Company standards.</p></li><li><p>Maintains knowledge of, and complies with State, Company and any other applicable policies and procedures.</p></li><li><p>If assisting with procedures, adheres to all federal, state and nursing regulations and protocols including but not limited to patient safety procedures such as verification of patient identification prior to procedures</p></li><li><p>Immediately prior to the start of any procedure in the procedure room, initiate/participates in a time-out and ensures correct patient, procedure, site and side, and that there are no additional concerns.</p></li><li><p>Identifies every patient with two identifiers: full name and date of birth</p></li><li><p>Documents this information in the Procedure Safety Checklist, including the time of the time-out</p></li><li><p>Performs additional counts, as necessary. Prepares sterile dressings and/or immobilization devices.</p></li><li><p>Sterilizes and cleans instruments used in examinations and/or procedures; maintains clean and hygienic environment.</p></li><li><p>Operates, sterilizes, and maintains necessary equipment, including but not limited to the autoclave, RFA machine, etc.</p></li><li><p>Monitors the comfort of the patient and provides verbal and tactile reassurance to the patient.</p></li><li><p>Assists with positioning the patient, using appropriate equipment and anatomical principles to avoid patient injury.</p></li><li><p>Applies the electrosurgical grounding pad.</p></li><li><p>Positions and prepares the patient for the procedures, establishes the sterile field, and drapes the patient for the procedures.</p></li><li><p>Secures dressings after incision closure.</p></li><li><p>Assists nursing staff with obtaining and recording vital signs, pregnancy tests and glucometer checks. Verifies patient history information and takes detailed history when indicated. Informs nursing staff and physician of results.</p></li><li><p>Makes frequent rounds on patients in pre-op and recovery to provide for any other needs of the patient prior to discharge.</p></li><li><p>Performs daily, weekly and monthly safety and equipment checks.</p></li><li><p>Daily reviews upcoming cases and notifies nurse of any potential issues.</p></li><li><p>Assists with inventory and order supplies for all procedures in the ASC, as directed. Sterilizes and breaks down procedure room after each patient and ensures procedure room is cleaned prior to the beginning of a procedure.</p></li><li><p>Monitors personal and other applicable staff task buckets in the EMR.</p></li><li><p>Operates, sterilizes, and maintains necessary equipment, including but not limited to the autoclave, RFA machine, etc.</p></li><li><p>Assists the physician with use of the C-Arm, as directed.</p></li><li><p>Accurately completes and maintains all applicable records and logs (i.e.: radiation, spore testing, equipment, medical records, etc.).</p></li><li><p>Checks work e-mail on a regular basis throughout the workday.</p></li><li><p>Participate in and complete all required trainings and in-services.</p></li><li><p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p></li></ul><p>Minimum Qualifications:</p><ul><li><p>High School Diploma, or equivalent.</p></li><li><p>Must possess and maintain a valid BLS certification.</p></li><li><p>Must possess and maintain Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.</p></li><li><p>Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional customer service.</p></li><li><p>Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, other co-workers and the public.</p></li><li><p>Must be able to work individually as well as within a team.</p></li><li><p>Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.</p></li><li><p>Must be able to work a flexible schedule.</p></li><li><p>Must be able to respond with patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations.</p></li><li><p>Must be able to multi-task and prioritize.</p></li><li><p>Must have working knowledge of all equipment and procedures.</p></li><li><p>Must demonstrate extreme attention to detail.</p></li><li><p>Must possess strong organization skills.</p></li><li><p>Must be able to problem solve and use reasoning.</p></li><li><p>Must be able to meet predefined quality standards.</p></li><li><p>Must maintain and project a professional attitude and appearance at all times.</p></li><li><p>Must have a working knowledge of the healthcare field and medical specialty, as well as medical terminology.</p></li><li><p>Must provide proof of influenza vaccination annually.</p></li><li><p>Must complete two (2)-step PPD (NE staff) OR must complete an annual PPD (SE staff)</p></li><li><p>Must complete all regulatory competencies prior to beginning work in the ASC.</p></li><li><p>All staff are expected to have a strong desire to provide excellent customer service; to comply with the rules and regulations of those organizations to which we are accountable; to have high ethical and professional standards of conduct; and to have an attitude of wanting to continuously improve their own professional performance.</p></li><li><p>Prior assisting with the operation of the C-Arm, must complete C-arm competencies.</p></li></ul><p>Driving/Travel:</p><p>The employee must have reliable transportation.
