Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or surgical technology military program and a minimum of two years work experience within an operating room setting required. The Level II practitioner demonstrates a higher level of critical thinking and problem solving skills and has met the Level I Certified Surgical Technologist criteria.

Credentialed as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (formerly LCC-ST) required and must be maintained. Basic Life Support required. Must maintain a Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
