Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of surgery suites, sterile rooms and ancillary rooms, as well as, assisting with room turnover

Obtains necessary equipment and positioning supplies needed for cases and ensures all scheduled cases have complete case carts

Checks, cleans and restocks surgical suites, sterile rooms and ancillary rooms
15.

Maintains communication with assigned rooms, clinical coordinators, and control desk charge nurse
18.

Performs activities required during the operation (e.g. handling of instruments, sponges, sutures, catheters, drains, dressing, etc.) under direct supervision. Observes for and corrects breaks in aseptic technique. Assists the physician, within scope of practice, during procedures as necessary. Demonstrates aseptic technique while tying, snapping surgical gowns and movement in OR suite. Maintains aseptic technique while opening supplies

Tests operation efficiency of equipment prior to and after each case, reporting any problem to the Clinical Specialty Coordinator or circulating nurse
22.

Sprays instruments with solution to aid in breakdown of bioburden prior to returning instruments to Sterile Processing. Cleans surgical equipment and returns to appropriate location
24.

Performs sponge, instrument, and sharps counts per policy. Performs instrument inventory counts on closed cavity cases
30.

Cross trains to the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) if needed
32.

Demonstrates the ability to operate Autoclave and Rapid Readout. Document both in appropriate logs
40.

Handles laboratory specimens correctly
44.

Answers intercom pages promptly and courteously responds to needs
45.

Makes appropriate decisions utilizing evidence-based practice and demonstrates critical thinking skills

Changes bed linens of occupied and unoccupied beds. Performs Catheter care. Performs perineal care. Uses lifts for patient transfers when indicated. Performs Finger Stick Blood Sugars. Provides skin care. Prepares patients for physical exam and assists when directed. 4. Keeps patient room and hallways free of clutter. Disposes of soiled linen in appropriate container. Incontinence care. Performs care for established colostomies and ileostomies. Removes Foley. Application and monitoring of restrictive devices. Initiates and follows High Risk Fall Precautions as indicated. Follows Suicide Precautions when applicable. Inserts rectal tubes 7. Performs pulse oximetry as directed. Performs oropharyngeal suctioning as indicated. Assists patient with incentive spirometry. Reinforces patient to turn, cough, and deep breathe. Feeds patients as indicated. Provides nourishments as directed. Passes fresh water every shift and as needed 8. Communicates with others in completing work assignments and accomplishing department/unit goals. Utilizes appropriate channels of communication 9. Takes vital signs, including VAS#, and records in electronic medical record. Makes observations hourly.
