UnaSource Surgery Center LLC is currently hiring full time Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe surgical intervention with optimal results for the patient. The CSFA performs these functions during the surgical procedure under the direction and supervision of the surgeon and in accordance with Center policy and appropriate laws and regulations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: One year experience as a Certified Surgical First Assistant. REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Graduation from a surgical assisting program accredited through ARC/STSA, a collaborative effort of AST, ACS, and SASA, by CAAHEP. PREREQUISITE SKILLS: Expertise in the theory and application of First Assisting in surgery.
Demonstrate competency with the application of sterile and aseptic technique. Knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Oral communication skills required to communicate appropriately and effectively with the entire surgical team.
Written and computer skills are required for appropriate documentation. Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting preferred. Possess the skills necessary to function as an effective high performing team member.
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her area. Orthopedic surgical experience required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Using instruments/medical devices Providing exposure Handling and/or cutting of tissue Providing hemostasis Suturing Positioning the patient Applying wound dressing Transferring patients Maintains working knowledge of all operating room procedures with respect to attire, infection control, and individual requirements and recommended practices of compliance. Able to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and other team members with respect to the requirements of a particular surgical procedure. Keeps abreast of new technology with respect to surgical intervention and its pertinence to patient management.
Maintains a quality standard of continuing medical education as described and set forth by NSAA standards. Will be assigned to first scrub surgical cases as well. BLS certification.
